摘要: This invention provides a fuel tank of a simple structure without any special device but having space of a predetermined ratio after the fuel tank has been filled with liquefied fuel. The fuel tank is of a form in which a number of cylindrical or spherical containers are arranged in parallel and are coupled together in a manner that the cylindrical or spherical containers neighboring each other share partitioning walls, respectively. Each of the partitioning walls has a passage through which the neighboring cylindrical or spherical containers are communicated with each other, and the upper ends of the passages are formed leaving partly the inner partitioning walls so that the liquid will not enter into the upper parts of the cylindrical or spherical containers.

摘要: A fuel cell system (10, 200) includes an intake pipe (45, 46) that admits an introduction of oxidizing gas upstream of an oxidizing gas supply source that supplies the oxidizing gas to a fuel cell (20), and an exhaust pipe (51, 52, 221, 222) that discharges exhaust gas which contains a vapor generated at an oxygen electrode side through an operation of the fuel cell (20). The fuel cell system (10, 200) is provided with a circulating pipe (61, 62, 220) that connects the intake pipe and the exhaust pipe (51, 52, 221, 222), a circulating valve (60) that is provided in the circulating pipe and operated to adjust a flow rate of the exhaust gas supplied from the exhaust pipe (51, 52, 221, 222) to the intake pipe, and a pressure generating member that is provided in the exhaust pipe (51, 52, 221, 222) at a position at which the circulating pipe and the exhaust pipe (51, 52, 221, 222) are joined and generates a pressure that is higher than at least an atmospheric pressure.

摘要: An apparatus for controlling valve timing in an internal-combustion engine. The apparatus includes a pair of sleeves inserted into each other. One of the sleeves is connected to the camshaft and the other sleeve is connected to a timing pulley which is connected to the crankshaft. One of the sleeves has diametrically opposed slits and the other sleeve has diametrically opposed slits located adjacent to the corresponding slits in the first sleeve. Abutment rollers are arranged in the slits and are mounted on an axially slidable slider. Movement of the slider causes the generation of an angular displacement between the sleeves, resulting in variable valve timing. A bearing unit is arranged between the inner and the outer sleeves.

摘要: An internal combustion engine having an auxiliary combustion chamber connected to only the main combustion chamber via a connecting passage. The engine comprises a first raised portion formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head, a second raised portion formed on the top face of the piston at a position opposite to the first raised portion with respect to the axis of the piston, and a third raised portion formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head above the second raised portion. A first flat squish area is formed between the flat peripheral top face of the piston and the flat bottom face of the first raised portion. A second spherical shell shape squish area is formed between the spherical bottom wall of the third raised portion and the spherical rear face of the second raised portion. A recessed portion is formed on the top wall of the main combustion chamber at a position near the first raised portion. The open end of the connecting passage is arranged in the recessed portion. The spark plug is arranged within the recessed portion at a position near the open end of the connecting passage and outside of the extension of the connecting passage.

摘要: An in-cylinder-injection internal combustion engine of spark ignition type has a plurality of cylinders, a fuel accumulator for storing a pressurized fuel; a fuel injector system that injects the pressurized fuel into each of the cylinders; a spark ignition system that ignites the fuel injected into each of the cylinders; and is controlled such that the engine is started by a partial operation of a selected at least one of the cylinders with a fuel injected into the selected at least one of the cylinders in at least its intake stroke. Then, a full operation of all of the cylinders with the fuel injected into all of the cylinders is started. The full operation is initiated not before a pressure of the fuel in the fuel accumulator has been raised to a level high enough to permit injection of the fuel into each of the cylinders in its compression stroke, as a result of the partial operation of the selected at least one of the cylinders. In addition, the engine is controlled such that an initial portion of the full operation includes a first mode of combustion in the selected at least one of the cylinders with the fuel injected thereinto in at least its intake stroke, the first mode of combustion being followed by stratified charge combustion in the selected at least one of the cylinders with the fuel injected thereinto in only its compression stroke.

摘要: A direct cylinder injection-type spark ignition internal combustion engine is disclosed. The engine comprises a spark plug, a cavity formed in the top surface of a piston, and a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel into the cavity in nearly the shape of a fan having a relatively small thickness. When the fuel injected in nearly the shape of a fan from the fuel injection valve is considered by being divided into a plurality of fuel segments in a radial direction, a side wall of the cavity has a first fuel deflection passage 82a and a second fuel deflection passage 82b for so deflecting at least two of the plurality of fuel segments as to pass near the spark plug. The side wall of the cavity is at least partly provided with a return portion 83 that protrudes toward the inside of the cavity. The first fuel deflection passage is not provided with the return portion 83 or is provided with the return portion having a short protrusion, and the second fuel deflection passage is provided with the return portion 83 having a long protrusion.

摘要: A control device of an engine having cylinders which are divided into two cylinder groups. The first cylinder group is provided with a first throttle valve and a first recirculation valve. The second cylinder group is provided with a second throttle valve and a second recirculation valve. When shifting from full cylinder operation to partial cylinder operation where the second cylinder group is left idle, the sum of the load of both the cylinder groups is maintained as substantially the same load as the total load before shifting to the partial cylinder operation, the first throttle valve is gradually opened, and the second throttle valve is gradually closed.

摘要: A two-cycle internal combustion engine having three, or a multiple of three, cylinders comprises a cylinder head having an intake port and exhaust port opened to a combustion chamber, to which fresh air compressed by a supercharger is introduced via an intake valve. The intake and exhaust valves are operated in response to a crank angle. A one-way valve is provided in the intake port so as to prevent air or gas from flowing back toward the supercharger. The exhaust valve is opened earlier than the intake valve when the speed of the downward movement of the piston is relatively high, so that a part of exhaust gas in the exhaust port flows back to the combustion chamber in the condition. In a heavy load condtion, cross scavenging and air charging effects due to exhaust pulsation can be achieved.

摘要: A lubricating mechanism for a rotary machine, such as a Roots blower, of the class having a pair of vertically spaced parallel shafts (20, 22) which are rotated in synchronization with each other by a pair of meshing gears (36, 38) and are provided with bearings (28, 30) and oil seals (40, 42) requiring lubrication. The rotary machine includes an enclosed gear chamber (70) serving to form an oil sump (74) for lubrication of the meshing gears. The lubricating mechanism is intended to lubricate the oil seal (40) and bearing (28) of the upper shaft (20) of the machine located above and remote from the oil sump. The lubricating mechanism comprises a guiding mechanism (80, 82) for positively guiding the lubricant in the oil sump (74) to be entrained in sequence by the lower gear (38) and the upper gear (36) and lifting the lubricant to the upper region of the gear chamber (70). The lubricating mechanism also comprises lubricant passages (56, 58) respectively having an inlet opening into the upper region of the gear chamber (70) and an outlet opening between the oil seal (40) and the bearing (28) associated with the upper shaft (20).
