    摘要: Embodiments pertain to a novel imaging member, namely, an electrostatic latent image generating member, and methods for using the same, that can generate an electrostatic latent image digitally with fewer steps and without using a raster output scanner (ROS) or free charge carriers. Embodiments provide a novel way of generating an electrostatic latent image without the shortfalls suffered by current photoreceptors, such as for example, charge mobility issues, unstable cycling, surface wear, lateral charge migration and sensitivity to light shock.

    摘要: Systems and methods are described that facilitate eliminating a need for a raster output scanner (ROS) or laser when generating a latent image on a photoreceptor. An addressable backplane is employed, comprising an array of field effect transistors (e.g., silicon or organic thin film transistors, or TFTs), wherein each TFT corresponds to a single pixel on a charge transport layer on the photoreceptor surface. Latent image formation is performed by forming a surface potential using corona charging, and then directing free charge carriers toward the photoreceptor surface to reduce electrostatic potential in areas that need to be toned. TFTs in the array are individually addressed, or selected, to connect to a common ground, which allows photodischarge to occur only in selected areas (e.g., pixels associated with the selected TFTs). Once the array of TFTs is addressed, an LED light source emits light over the surface of the photoreceptor, and only the selected (grounded) TFTs permit their associated pixels to discharge. In this manner, a latent image is formed without a need for a bulky and expensive ROS.

    摘要: The presently disclosed embodiments relate generally to an image forming apparatus including a delivery member for delivering a functional material in contact with an intermediate transfer belt such that functional material is transferred onto one or more imaging members via the intermediate transfer belt. Embodiments also pertain to an improved electrophotographic imaging member comprising a very thin outer layer on the imaging member surface, where the outer layer comprises functional materials, such as paraffin, that act as a lubricant and or a barrier against moisture and/or surface contaminants. The improved imaging member exhibits improved xerographic performance, such as reduced friction and deletions in high humidity conditions.
