    摘要: A method for bonding glass components using an encapsulated photo-initiated optical adhesive, and the resulting glass assemblies produced by the same. A mixture containing a catalyst and a resin is provided where at least one of either the catalyst or the resin is encapsulated. The mixture is applied to a glass component. The encapsulated catalyst may then be exposed to ultraviolet light causing the capsules to release the portions contained therein and combine to form an adhesive. A second glass component is then placed on the adhesive so that the adhesive is interposed between the glass components and the adhesive is permitted to cure. Alternatively, the mixture may be exposed to UV light after the second glass component is placed. An exemplary method uses a frame with the first glass component to create a uniform thickness of adhesive and provide a low level of optical defects.

Each tile has a plurality of lights attached to it, such that when a single light or group of lights fail, the tile may be replaced without having to replace the entire backlight assembly. The lights in the assembly may be any one of the following: light emitting diodes (LED), organic light emitting diodes (OLED), field emitting display (FED), light emitting polymer (LEP), and organic electro-luminescence (OEL). Embodiments also allow tiles to be removed from the rear of the display and dissipate heat from the lights to the rear of the backlight assembly.

    摘要: A system and method for displaying images or video on an electronic display. A unique identifier may be embedded within the frames of images or video and detected by a light sensor. The data from the light sensor is analyzed to determine if the proper image or video was actually shown at the display. Some embodiments analyze the data from the light sensor in real time and may stop displaying the image or video if the data is not in the format of a unique identifier. Using this embodiment, the system can prevent unintended images or video from being shown on the display.

    摘要: A cooling system for an electronic display. Transparent cooling chambers are used to extract heat from the front display surface of an electronic display. A refrigerated air source is in gaseous communication with the cooling chamber. Additional fans may be used to cool other components of the electronic display. Multiple displays may be used where each display and the refrigerated air source is housed within the housing. The housing contains air inlet and air exhaust ports. An air curtain device may be used with some embodiments. An open-loop, closed-loop, or both types of designs may be used with the cooling chambers. Temperature sensors may allow the refrigerated air source(s) to be selectively engaged depending on the temperature of the air within the cooling chamber or the temperature of the front display surface. Ambient temperature sensors may also direct the switch between open and closed loops.

A front housing and a rear housing are hingedly attached so that the front housing can rotate and allow access to the interior of the display. An axial force mechanism can be used to aid in rotating the front housing to an open position. A locking collar, support member, or axial locking member may be used to ensure that the front housing remains open. A removable front glass assembly or removable glass panel may be used with an exemplary embodiment. The front glass assembly or glass panel can be easily replaced if it becomes damaged by minimally-trained personnel. Gutters may be used between the front and rear housing as well as the front housing and front glass assembly to ensure an adequate seal against contaminates.

A preferred embodiment utilizes a closed loop cooling system in a constricted convection cooling setup to remove heat from the backlight of a display assembly. Cooling air can be pulled or pushed through a gap between the display (or backlight) and a rear cooling chamber. The resulting warm air can then be exhausted out of the display housing. The cooling air may be air conditioned or may be exposed to a thermoelectric device. A thermostat may be used so that cooling fans are only energized when the temperature reaches a predetermined point.
