摘要： An electric discharge machine includes a machining power supply for applying a voltage to a machining gap between a machining electrode and its opposite workpiece and detecting a contact between the machining electrode and the workpiece. The machining power supply includes a first power supply circuit whose output voltage is equal to or less than an arc voltage, a second power supply circuit for supplying a pulse current to the machining gap, and a control unit. When the first power supply circuit detects a contact between the machining electrode and the workpiece, the control unit operates to supply a pulse current from the second power supply circuit to the machining gap while the machining electrode and the workpiece are in contact with each other.

摘要： A wire-cut electric discharge machine capable of taking out a cutoff piece smoothly upwardly of a workpiece even if the cutoff piece has a complicated shape, by holding the cutoff piece horizontally not to change an orientation thereof. The wire-cut electric discharge machine comprises a takeout head having a plurality of permanent magnets for holding the cutoff piece by magnetic force and a motion restriction member for restricting motion of the held cutoff piece relative to the permanent magnets. Sliding apparatus for sliding the plurality of magnets independently to project from and retract into the motion restricting member, transferring apparatus for transferring the takeout head and selecting apparatus for selecting at least one of the plurality of permanent magnets to exert the magnetic force on the cutoff piece in accordance with a shape of the cutoff piece are provided. The cutoff piece is held by the takeout head by projecting the selected permanent magnets from the motion restricting member by the sliding apparatus, and the held cutoff piece is released by retracting the selected permanent magnets into the motion restricting member by the sliding apparatus.

摘要： A wire tension controlling method in a wire cut electric discharge machine, capable of preventing occurrence of an excessive variation in a wire tension which may be caused by an abnormal operation of an electromagnetic powder brake upon start and release of application of the wire tension, and upon change of same. When the presence of a possibility of an actual wire tension being excessively changed is determined on the basis of the result of comparison between a present instructed wire tension and a new wire tension, a process of adding or subtracting an upper limit variation amount, set beforehand to such a value which may not cause the excessive variation in the wire tension, to or from the present target wire tension is repeatedly effected at predetermined intervals of a cycle until the target wire tension reaches the instructed wire tension, so that the electromagnetic powder brake effects a braking operation at an operation voltage corresponding to gradually changing target wire tension, so that the actual wire tension is gradually changed to the instructed wire tension.

摘要： An electric discharge machine controls temperature fluctuations of machining fluid discharged by a discharge pump so as to improve machining accuracy, and a machining fluid cooling device keeps the temperature of the discharged machining fluid constant regardless of the operating state of the discharge pump. The electric discharge machine pumps machining fluid in a temperature controlled clean fluid tank with a discharge pump and discharges the machining fluid to a machining area through piping, and has a machining fluid cooling device for cooling machining fluid discharged from the discharge pump. The machining fluid cooling device passes a portion of the piping through the clean fluid tank and exchanges heat between the machining fluid inside the piping and the clean fluid in the clean fluid tank, thus dispersing the heat added from the discharge pump to the clean fluid side and lowering the temperature of the machining fluid inside the piping.

Upon wire extension, a lower belt section (3) pivotally supported through links (33, 34, 36, L) is moved toward an upper belt section (2) with actuation of air cylinders (10, 12), so that belts (21, 31) of these belt sections are brought in urged contact with each other, and a wire is delivered for the wire extension by the belts which are rotated, a wire drive roller (4). After completion of the wire extension, the lower belt section is moved to a position at which it is separated from the wire, and at this time the upper belt section is also separated from the wire, and power transmission from the wire drive roller to the lower belt section is disconnected.

摘要： In a wire electric discharge machine, a workpiece mounting unit mounts a workpiece tilted at a preset angle to a plane based on two orthogonal axes, X- and Y-axes. An XY-coordinate system is tilted at the preset angle so that it is transformed into an X′Y′-coordinate system. A machining command value commanded by a machining program is corrected based on the X′Y′-coordinate system. Thus, the tilted workpiece is taper-machined with a wire electrode kept substantially perpendicular to the XY-plane (table surface).
