Abstract:
Systems and methods for integrating telephony and multimedia content include concurrently displaying a graphical user interface and a video channel of a media broadcast on a screen of a multimedia device. The graphical user interface has a graphical element by which an end-user of the multimedia device can select execution of an interactive application that invokes a telephony service. In response to a selection of the interactive application by the end-user, a message is sent to a networked resource requesting the telephony service. The requested telephony service can be to ignore, reject, or forward the incoming telephone call. Alternatively, the requested telephony service can be a click-to-call. Other interactive applications can request access to an address book, acquire presence information, or request an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed.
Abstract:
Streams of data traffic from various applications may be handled by a network-aware adapter module as part of a greater platform for filtering communicating the streams to intelligent network components. A distinguishing factor associated with a given data stream may be determined and used as a basis for selecting a QoS policy setting for the given data stream. The selected QoS policy setting may then be signaled to a media access control layer to take advantage of the QoS function of the embedded underlying active media type that is active and optimal (both from technical and business perspective) to carry out the communication for the application.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for controlling handoff by a network infrastructure, which includes collecting channel information and transmitting the channel information to a Mobile Terminal (MT) and a method for controlling handoff by a MT, which includes receiving channel information collected by a network infrastructure and making a handoff decision according to the channel information. The present invention also discloses apparatuses for controlling handoff. Applying the present invention, the handoff decision will be made based on both the information collected by the network infrastructure and the information collected by the MT, therefore blind handoff is reduced, the network workloads are balanced and the QoS is assured before and after the handoff.
Abstract:
Documents written using a markup language such as XML may be decomposed into Path and Parent Associated Node (PPAN) elements, each of which is a linear data structure that includes the content of a node, the parent-child relationship of the node, and the path level of the node. A number of PPAN elements may be grouped together to form A PPAN chain. A PPAN matching process uses the PPAN elements/PPAN chain to search for structured documents that match the PPAN chain. The PPAN matching process is able to perform query and match at the same time to accelerate the PPAN matching process, and also enables complex services to be represented by generic structured documents. Optionally, the PPAN matching process may support wildcard requests so that services may be discovered without prior knowledge of the services.
Abstract:
The embodiments of the present invention provide a method and an apparatus for establishing a virtual link. The method includes the following steps: a virtual link establishment requesting end initiates a virtual link establishment request which contains virtual link negotiation parameters of the requesting end to a requested end through a base link; the requested end receives the virtual link establishment request, parses the request and obtains the virtual link negotiation parameters of the requesting end, and negotiates between the obtained parameters with the virtual link parameters of local end to obtain negotiated virtual link parameters; the requested end determines the virtual link end-point address identifications; the requested end sends a virtual link establishment response which contains the negotiated virtual link parameters and the virtual link end-point address identifications to the requesting end through the base link; the requesting end receives the response, parses the response and obtains the negotiated virtual link parameters and the virtual link end-point address identifications; the identification of the virtual link is accomplished for the requesting end and the requested end.
Abstract:
A technique for wave-mixing bulk frequency conversion in a network comprising one or more channels is disclosed that enables cost-effective wavelength-conversion. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the technique may be realized by a new class of multi-log wave-mixing-cross-connects that are based on arbitrary b×b space-switching elements, where b>2. In such cross-connects, for any light-path, the worst case number of cascaded frequency-conversions is O(logb(FW)), F being the number of fibers. One benefit of the new design may be maximized when W=O(F), b=O(F), and the worst-case number of cascaded conversions is O(1).

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method for a wireless local area network terminal to access a network, a local area network system and a wireless local area network terminal. The wireless local area network includes at least one basic service set and at least one extended service set thereof constructed by a plurality of terminal equipments. In the invention, the extended service set has a uniquely identified extended service set ID, when performing channel scan, the extended service set ID parameter is added; and network selection is performed based on the extended service set ID parameter. Moreover, in the method according to the invention, network sharing may also be performed based on an extended service set.
