Abstract: Hot melt processable composition mixtures include an acid-functional (meth)acrylate-based adhesive composition and a zinc di-(meth)acrylate salt. The adhesive composition has a hot melt processing temperature, and the zinc salt has a melting point that is higher than the hot melt processing temperature of the adhesive composition. The mixture is hot melt processable, and upon application to a substrate, the mixture forms an ionically crosslinked layer with thermally reversable ionic crosslinks.

Abstract: Methods of adhering graphic film on an irregular substrate are disclosed. The methods includes providing a polymer film composite having two or more layers with at least one layer having a glass transition temperature of at least about 40° C., the polymer film composite having a first side and a second side, and an adhesive layer disposed on the second side. Then the method includes, positioning the adhesive layer against the irregular substrate, heating the polymer film composite, and pressing the heated polymer film against the irregular substrate.

Specifically, the present application is directed to a multilayer film, at least one layer of the multilayer film comprising a polymer blend comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane and a cellulose ester. In some embodiments, a second layer of the multilayer film comprises thermoplastic polyurethane and the cellulose ester. In some embodiments, a second layer of the multilayer film comprises a material different from the polymer blend.

Abstract: Film stacks are described. In particular, film stacks including a base overlaminate film layer and a removeable skin layer disposed on the base overlaminate film layer are described. Because the removable skin layer develops haze before the point of irreversibly damaging the base overlaminate layer, the film stack can prevent unintentional overstretching when the film stack is stretched together.

Abstract: A graphic article comprising a Poly lactic acid (PLA) based film and in particular, an ink layer depicting a graphic is described. The PLA based film comprises a semicrystalline polylactic acid polymer, a second of a polyvinyl acetate polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 25° C., and plasticizer. The article is typically a tape or sheet that may further comprise an adhesive (e.g. pressure sensitive) and a low adhesion backsize or a release liner. A method of forming a graphic article using the film of the invention is also disclosed.

Abstract: A film stack is described. In particular, a film stack that includes a co-extrudable first base substrate, a first pressure sensitive adhesive, a release layer, a second pressure sensitive adhesive, and a second base substrate is described. Such film stacks may benefit from reduced waste, simpler manufacturing, and a thinner overall construction versus conventional film stacks.

Abstract: A method of forming a graphic article is described such as a tape or sheet, comprising a PLA-based film. The PLA-based film comprises a semicrystalline polylactic acid polymer; a second polymer such as polyvinyl acetate polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 25° C.; and plasticizer. The graphic article is typically a tape or sheet that may further comprise a (e.g. pressure sensitive) adhesive and a low adhesion backsize or a release liner. The graphic article can be suitable for various end-uses.
