    摘要: A novel bis-biguanide compound suitable for use as a disinfectant has the following formula: ##STR1## where n is an integer from 2 to 10 inclusive. A pharmaceutically acceptable salt, particularly gluconate salt of the compound is also useful as a disinfectant. The bis-biguanide compound has germicidal activities comparable to those of widely used chlorhexidine with respect to width of antibacterial spectrum and is superior to chlorhexidine in immediate effectiveness. It exhibits excellent germicidal activities against Pyocyaneus bacilli, on which chlorhexidine has poor effect.

    摘要: A novel disinfectant is disclosed. Said disinfectant is a compound 1,n-bis(N.sup.5 -m-, or p-trifluoromethyl-phenyl-N.sup.1 -biguanido)-C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 -alkane. The m-trifluoro-C.sub.6 derivative is a known compound. The compounds of the present invention exhibit germicidal effect against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris and Alcaligenes faecalis at concentrations of 1/4-1/8 of the effective concentration for chlorhexidine. Against other microorganisms, the compounds are effective at the same level as chlorhexidine.

    摘要: A hydrophobic silica powder, treated with an amino-substituted silane compound represented by the formula (1) and an organopolysiloxane, having an amount of triboelectrification relative to iron of from over +100 .mu.C/g to up to +700 .mu.C/g, and a hydrophobing ratio of at least 60% as measured by the transmittance method:R.sup.1 SiR.sup.2.sub.3-n R.sup.3.sub.n (1)where R.sup.1 is an amino-substituted alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is an alkyl group having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R.sup.3 is Cl, Br or an alkoxy group having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms; and n is an integer of from 1 to 3. The treatment is preferably carried out with the silica powder in a suspended state. When the hydrophobic silica powder is used as an agent for improving fluidity of a toner, a developer for electrophotography having a stable electrification and which has excellent fluidity can be obtained, and it is possible to clearly develop an electrostatic image free from fog and to obtain stable developing properties with a long service life.

    摘要: A composition for forming transparent conductive films comprises a tin-containing indium oxide (ITO) powder dispersed in a binder solution. The binder solution comprises a mixed organic solvent consisting of at least one polar solvent and at least one non-polar solvent, in which a polymer having a weight-average molecular weight of from 8,000 to 150,000 is dissolved. The polymer contains (a) an acidic functional group in such a proportion that the polymer has an acid number of from 0.5 to 15 mg-KOH/g, or (b) a polyalkylene glycol chain in a proportion of from 0.5% to 40% by weight, or both of (a) and (b) in the molecule. Alternatively, the binder solution comprises an actinic radiation-curable binder, which comprises an acrylate or methacrylate compound containing an acid phosphate group in the molecule. The composition can form, by coating, a transparent conductive film having improved electrical and optical properties.

    摘要: A novel stable silica sol which does not gel even at low temperatures is prepared by adding a di -or polyhydric alcohol having three or more carbon atoms and a water-soluble melamine resin to a silica sol. A novel water-based coating composition which requires only an applying step, not a baking step nor a drying step, in the use is prepared by adding an aggregate or filler and usual additives for coating material to the aforesaid stable silica sol as binder. By adding further a small amount of a synthetic resin emulsion to said binder, an inorganic coating composition containing a smaller amount of organic materials than that in prior products can be obtained. The coating therefrom is excellent in strength and its fire resistance is not lowered.

    摘要: A zinc oxide powder having high dispersibility, which contains one or more metal elements selected from the group consisting of aluminum, silicon, titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, gallium, germanium, zirconium, indium, tin and hafnium in an amount of from 0.1 to 25 atm. % relative to the total amount of metal elements including zinc. The powder has an average primary particle size of up to 1 .mu.m and a relative transmissivity of at least 0.80. The improved properties are obtained by improving the surface of the powder by immersing the powder in one or more organic liquids selected from the group consisting of alcohols, ketones, amines and esters, and then drying the particles. When containing one or more of aluminum, gallium, germanium, indium and tin, the zinc oxide powder of the invention displays high electric conductivity and is therefore applicable as a conductive pigment.

    摘要: A low resistance conductive pigment containing indium oxide crystal grains each including a partial amount of Sn. The amount of Sn ranges from about 1 to about 15 mol % relative to the total amount of Sn and In in each of the indium oxide crystal grains. The conductive pigment further includes a specified surface acidity and a specified volume resistivity. The conductive pigment exhibits improved visibility and averages a primary particle size of up to 0.2 .mu.m,. This allows for the manufacture of superior transparent conductive films which can be useful, inter alia, as a transparent electrode in liquid crystal displays and heating elements having transparent surfaces. In one embodiment, ITO crystals undergo an oxygen extraction treatment, while in another embodiment, surface acidity, is increased by a surface modification treatment. The methods of forming conductive pigments, conductive film forming compositions and conductive resin forming compositions are also disclosed.
