The present invention relates to compounds which include compounds of the formula I: or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein one of R1 and R4 is selected from the group consisting of H, and optionally substituted C1-6 alkyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl-C1-4 alkyl, and phenyl-C1-4 alkyl; and the other of R1 and R4 is an optionally substituted C9-14 aryl group; R2 and R3 are either: (i) independently selected from H, R, R′, SO2R, C(═O)R, (CH2)nNR5R6, where n is from 1 to 4 and R5 and R6 are independently selected from H and R, where R is optionally substituted C1-4 alkyl, and R′ is optionally substituted phenyl-C1-4 alkyl, or (ii) together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form an optionally substituted C5-7 heterocyclic group. The compounds are useful in the treatment of conditions including conditions which can be alleviated by antagonism of a 5-HT2B receptor such as GI disorders and congestive heart failure.

Wood preservatives, methods for protecting wood and wood-based products and/or structures utilizing the preservatives, and treated wood and wood-based articles and/or structures incorporating the preservatives are described. Methods are also provided for remediating structures already infected with mold. The subject wood preservative formulation includes a borate compound and a fatty acid. The addition of an emulsifier to the formulation further facilitates application of the treatment. The combination of a borate compound and fatty acid combination typically provide a synergistic effect compared to the additive result provided by the combination's individual components.

The invention provides, improved herbicide compositions, methods of making the compositions and methods of controlling plant growth. The subject invention relates to combining fatty acid based and other herbicides with succinic acid, succinic acid derivatives and other additives such as those having essentially no herbicidal activity to increase the activity of the herbicide and provide methods of controlling plant growth by applying a combination of a herbicidal fatty acid with succinic acid and/or succinic acid derivative chemicals and/or other additives. In addition to the use of succinic acid, combining other Krebs cycle acids with herbicides can also provide beneficial effects. Concentrations of herbicides and additives applied to plants in accordance with the invention can include compositions involving 0.1 to 30% herbicide, preferably 0.5 to 15% herbicide and additive and more preferably 1-8% herbicide. The ratio of herbicide, such as fatty acid herbicide to activity enhancing additives can be from 1:10 to 20:1, preferably 1:1 to 20:1, most preferably 1:1 to 5:1.
