    摘要: The present invention provides a spring balance assembly for use with a sash window. The spring balance assembly comprises a plate, clip, pivot brake assembly, and first and second coil springs. The plate has a first portion, second portion, and a generally perpendicular transition portion thereby defining a cavity proximate the first portion. The cavity accommodates hardware mounted to the sash window during sliding movement of the sash window. The first coil spring is rotatably supported on a first spool and the second coil spring is rotatably supported on a second spool. A lower end of the first spring is connected to an attaching element of the clip. A lower end of the second spring is connected to a first wall of the pivot brake assembly and the clip is connected to the first wall to secure the first and second springs to the pivot brake assembly.

    摘要: A sash balance brake and pivot pin assembly for a sash window that maintains the window substantially square prior to installation. The pivot pin extends outwardly from the window sash. The sash balance brake is disposed within a track in the window frame and includes a rotor rotatably disposed within an expandable housing. The pivot pin has a collar for lateral engagement with the rotor to prevent the window frame from bowing away from the window sash, thereby maintaining the window frame substantially square. The rotor has a first slot and a transversely disposed second slot defining an inner surface. The inner surface includes an angled surface to resist breakage of the rotor when the window sash in installed into the window frame. The rotor also has a pair of flats at a first end to further resist breakage of the rotor when the pivot pin is positioned at an angle with respect to the rotor.

    摘要: A sash balance brake assembly for a sash window system. The sash window system includes a window frame having a pair of generally parallel tracks. Each of the tracks has an outer wall, front and back intermediate walls and front and back inner walls collectively defining a channel. A sash window is transversely disposed between the tracks and is adapted for slidable movement along the tracks. A pair of sash balance assemblies provide a generally upward bias on transverse sides of the sash window. The sash balance brake assembly comprises a rotor rotatable about a rotor axis, a bolt having a generally planar engaging surface, a slider body for placement in a respective one of the channels and for coupling to a respective one of the sash balance assemblies. The slider body includes an aperture for rotatably supporting the rotor adjacent the bolt. The rotor and the bolt include cooperative camming surfaces for converting rotary motion of the rotor into movement of the bolt along the rotor axis, such that the bolt engaging surface selectively engages and disengages the track outer wall.

    摘要: An economical, efficient window stop includes a narrow, flat housing having first and second cavities for respective flat, narrow bolt and latch. The bolt is spring braced and movable between a first portion within the cavity and a second position extending from the cavity. The latch is spring biased and moves transverse to the movement of the bolt. High strength molded plastic construction with guide means and close tolerances allow efficient distribution of forces from the extended bolt to the housing.

    摘要: A tilt latch (10) for a sash window (12) has a bolt stop. The sash window (12) is disposed within opposed guide rails (16) on a master frame (14). The sash window (12) is comprised of a top sash rail (20), a base (22) and two stiles (24,26) connected together at their extremities. The tilt-latch (10) is adapted for releasably securing the sash window (12) to the master frame (14). The tilt-latch (10) is comprised of a housing (42) adapted to be supported by the top rail (20). The housing (42) has an outward end opening (44). A latch bolt (46) is disposed within the housing (42) and has a nose adapted for engaging a respective one of the guide rails (16). A protrusion (80) is located either on the latch bolt (46) or the housing (42) and a lock wall (86) is located either on the housing (42) or the latch bolt (46). The protrusion (80) has a stop surface (84) and is moveable between a first position defining a prevent position (94) wherein the stop surface (84) is adapted to abut the lock wall (86) to prevent retraction of the latch bolt (46) into the housing (42), and a second position defining a deflected position (96) wherein the stop surface (84) does not abut the lock wall (86) to allow retraction of the latch bolt (46) into the housing (42). The protrusion (80) is biased to the prevent position.

    摘要: A window stop (10) for limiting movement of a sliding window along a predetermined path of window movement is provided. The window stop (10) has a housing (12) having a cavity (20) wherein the housing (12) is adapted to be positioned adjacent the path of window movement. A bolt (14), operatively associated with the cavity (20), is moveable between a first position (BP1) within the housing (12) and thereby out of the path of window movement, and a second position (BP2) extending out of the housing (12) into the path of the window movement whereby the window is able to contact the bolt (14). An actuator (16) is pivotally supported by the bolt (14) between a first position (AP1) locking the bolt (14) within the housing (12) and a second position (AP2) allowing the bolt (14) to extend to its second position (BP2). A spring (58) biases the bolt toward its second position. The bolt (14) receives forces from the window contacting the extended bolt (14). A tongue and groove arrangement is provided to allow efficient distribution of forces from the bolt (14) to the housing (12).
