摘要： An apparatus is disclosed for the application of a polymer resin to a threaded fastener, where the fastener includes a cylindrical body and the threads of the fastener are formed in a bore extending diametrically across the body. The apparatus generally comprises a conveyor, a resin application station and a fastener orientation station. The conveyor carries the fasteners along a predetermined path of travel, and includes one or more fastener support members that permit the individual fasteners to rotate about the axes of their cylindrical bodies. The application station comprises a nozzle which directs a stream of the resin toward the travel path of the fasteners. The orientation station includes a guide member which operates to rotate each of the fasteners relative to the conveyor as they move toward the application station, and to thereby properly orient the fasteners so the threaded bore of each fastener will intersect the resin stream as the conveyor carries the fasteners along the travel path and through the spray station.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a vibratory powder feeding and metering apparatus that achieves the above-mentioned requirements. Generally, the apparatus of the present invention includes a housing defining a powder reservoir, a powder storage hopper having an outlet disposed to deliver powdered resin to the reservoir, a powder distribution block having one or more generally vertical fill tubes, a plurality of discharge ports extending from the reservoir to the fill tubes in the distribution block, and a vibration device to which the housing is mounted. 摘要： An apparatus and method for use with powdered resin feeders provides a continuous stream of powder to a plurality of threaded or non-threaded fasteners. In one preferred embodiment, the apparatus generates a gravity induced powder stream at the free end of a discharge conduit which is intersected by a series of fasteners carried on a conveyor. A vacuum nozzle is positioned adjacent to the powder stream and the conveyor. Both the vacuum nozzle and the free end of the discharge conduit are adjustably positionable relative to the path of the fasteners carried on the conveyor.

摘要： Apparatus and method employed in applying a useful coating to fasteners is disclosed. Particularly, a resin material in powder form is preferably applied to a selected surface of the fastener to cover a desired length of the threads of the fastener. The apparatus includes a support for moving the fasteners deposited thereon to a position where the coating is applied, and a positioning device is provided to insure that the fastener is peripherally located for application of the coating. A cam mechanism associated with a plurality of tubes provides movement of the tubes for application of the resin material to the fasteners. The fasteners are subsequently removed from the support by fluid pressure.

摘要： A method and apparatus for coating a fastener with head and shank portions is disclosed. The invention includes the steps of and apparatus for transferring the fasteners from a feed mechanism such that the fasteners are positioned for coating. The fasteners are then conveyed through a plurality of operating stations, beginning with a heating station where the shank portions of the fasteners are heated. Subsequently, at a material applying station, a coating material is applied to the heated shank portions. A preferred embodiment of the method and apparatus of the present invention includes using a magnetic holder to carry the fasteners horizontally by their head portions, heating the shank portion to a temperature above the melting point of the applied material and applying the material to the heated shank portion to form a coating thereon. The magnetic holders are part of an endless traveling belt that rotates continually. The fastener carriers have teeth that engage a rack to rotate the fasteners. A conveyor provides added air cooling for the coated fasteners, which can continue to be rotated. Also disclosed is a transfer wheel with two sets of notches that is synchronously coupled to the traveling belt for placing and aligning fasteners on the belt for coating.

A reciprocating, magnetized holder engages a friction drive to rotate a stud in front of a spray nozzle. In another embodiment, a nut sample machine includes a reciprocating powder spray nozzle mounted on an air cylinder and a water cooled support block for the nut. In a third embodiment a hydraulically controlled gate is sequenced with the reciprocating powder feed, providing a continuous coating operation.
