    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropene (1234yf, CF3—CF═CH2) from 1,1,3,3-tetrachlororopropene (1230za, CCl2═CH—CHCl2) and/or 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane (240fa, CCl3CH2CHCl2). The process comprises a step of isomerization of 1,1,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (1230za) to 1,1,2,3-tetrachloropropene (1230xa) followed by conversion of the 1,1,2,3-tetrachloropropene (1230xa) to 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropene (1234yf) via a hydrofluorination process.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a combination of hydrofluoroolefins and/or hydrochlorofluoroolefins with stabilizers wherein the stabilizers minimize the degradation of the hydrofluoroolefins and hydrochlorofluoroolefins during storage, handling and use yet allow for atmospheric degradation. The combinations exhibit low or zero ozone depletion potential and lower global warming potential making them of interest as replacements for chlorofluorocarbons and hydrofluorocarbons. The combinations of the present invention comprise hydrofluoroolefins and/or hydrochlorofluoroolefins in combination with a stabilizer or stabilizers selected from free radical scavengers, acid scavengers, oxygen scavengers, polymerization inhibitors and combinations thereof.

    Abstract: A method for producing a tetrafluoroolefin, such as 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf), comprises dehydrofluorinating a pentafluoroalkane in a gas phase in the presence of a catalyst comprising chromium oxyfluoride. In a preferred embodiment, 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf) is produced by forming a catalyst comprising chromium oxyfluoride by calcining CrF3.xH2O, where x is 1-10, in the presence of a flowing gas comprising nitrogen to form a calcined chromium oxyfluoride, and dehydrofluorinating 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (HFC-245cb) in a gas phase in the presence of the catalyst to form the 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf).

    Abstract: The present invention relates to blowing agent compositions comprising (1) at least one hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) and (2) at least one hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO) used in the preparation of foamable thermoplastic compositions. The HFOs of component (1) include, but are not limited too, 3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HFO-1243zf), 1,2,3,3,3 -pentafluoropropene (HFO-1225ye), cis- and/or trans-1,3,33-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234ze), and 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO 1234yf), and mixtures thereof. The HCFOs of component (2) include, but are not limited to, 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233zd), 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233xf) and mixtures thereof.
