摘要: A sample acquisition device includes a capillary array configured to draw in a sample and retain the sample by capillary action. The capillary array may be coupled to an elongated member, such as a stem or a hollow tube, which defines a longitudinal axis extending in a first direction. In some embodiments, the capillary array defines a major sample acquisition surface that extends in a second direction different than the first direction. A ratio of the major sample acquisition surface area to maximum volume retained by the capillary array may be selected to minimize physical binding between the capillary array and sample. In some embodiments, the device may include a feedback mechanism to indicate the relative pressure applied to a sample source with the sample acquisition device. In addition, in some embodiments, the sample acquisition device may include a suction source to help draw the sample into the capillary array.

摘要: A sample acquisition device includes a body comprising a plurality of sample acquisition regions defined by at least a first wall and a second wall oriented nonparallel to the first wall. In some embodiments, the body defines a plurality of apertures that define a plurality of sample acquisition regions. In other embodiments, the walls extend from the body, and the sample acquisition regions are defined between the walls. The sample acquisition regions may be configured in some embodiments such that a user may acquire a sample by rotating the body in a first direction relative to a sample source and may release the sample by rotating the body in a second direction that is substantially opposite to the first direction. When rotated in the first direction, at least one of the first or second walls defines a surface that is inclined into a sample acquisition region.

In embodiments described, the sensor component includes a receptor in a polymerized composition. The receptor is configured to bind with an analyte in a test sample. Upon binding the sensor component undergoes a detectable change in response to interaction of the analyte with the receptor.

摘要: Devices to process a sample are configured to releasably attach a sample acquisition device to a drive mechanism that provides rotational and/or vibrational motion to the sample acquisition device. The devices can be used in sample processing methods to dislodge sample materials from the sample acquisition device. Sample processing methods using rotational or vibrational motion may further include the use of a liquid medium into which the sample is released. Sample processing methods may further include the detection of an analyte in the sample.

摘要: Static mixers and fluid systems incorporating one or more of the static mixers. The static mixers may include one or more channels that provide a tortuous path through a body, wherein fluid flowing through each channel defines a downstream direction through the tortuous path created within the channel. The tortuous path of the channel is preferably formed by a set of flow obstacles protruding into the channel and a set of flow restrictions positioned along the channel between the inlet and the outlet. Each flow restriction has a downstream length over which the open cross-sectional area of the channel decreases and then increases when moving in the downstream direction.

摘要: A system and method for preparing and collecting samples for analyte testing. The system can include a sample preparation system and a sample collection system coupled to the sample preparation system. The sample preparation system can include at least one of a deformable self-supporting receptacle comprising a reservoir and a freestanding receptacle comprising a reservoir. The reservoir can be adapted to contain a liquid composition. The sample collection system can be positioned in fluid communication with a reservoir of the sample preparation system, and can be adapted to capture an analyte of interest. The method can include providing a fluid path defined at least partially by the sample preparation system and the sample collection system, positioning the liquid composition in a reservoir of the sample preparation system, and moving at least a portion of the liquid composition in the fluid path to the sample collection system.

摘要: A water treatment device for filling at least one bottle with treated tap water includes a housing unit having a reservoir, and at least one valve arranged in fluid communication with the reservoir, the valve having a water inlet/air exit port arranged adjacent to the housing unit, and a water exit/air inlet port arranged opposite the water inlet/air exit port, whereby when the valve is actuated to its open condition, water flows through the valve and into the bottle, and air entrapped in the bottle flows through the valve and into the surrounding environment. When the valve is in its closed condition, air and water do not flow through the valve.
