    摘要: A temperature transmitter connects to a first conduit containing leads from a temperature sensor and also to second conduit which conveys the output leads of the transmitter to a remote location. A wall in the transmitter divides the transmitter into first and second compartments sealed from one another. The first compartment receives the leads from the temperature sensor and contains the electric circuit for converting the signal of the temperature sensor to an output signal representative of temperature. A feedthrough passing through the wall connects the output signal to the output leads in the second compartment. The arrangement blocks the flow of potentially hazardous fluid from the first conduit through the second conduit to a remote location such as a control room. The transmitter thus provides an integral seal between the conduits and use of an external conduit seal in the second conduit can be avoided.

    摘要: The recent trend towards incorporating a higher density of data tracks on magnetic tape has necessitated more accurate mechanisms for positioning tape heads. A system for seeking tracks on a magnetic tape via a fine position adjustment system includes a carriage frame that holds a magnetic tape head. The magnetic tape head reads and writes magnetic tape as the tape passes in close proximity to the tape head. Flexures attach the carriage frame to the tape head permitting movement in a transverse direction normal to the direction of tape travel across the head while restricting movement of the tape head in a direction parallel to tape travel or in a direction normal to the tape surface. A drive mechanism moves the tape head in the transverse direction in response to a control signal. A linear tachometer provides a velocity signal based on the movement of the tape head in the transverse direction. Control logic receives a command to move the tape head in the transverse direction, generates a control signal to change the head position, and modifies the control signal to dampen tape head oscillations relative to the carriage frame based on the velocity signal.

    摘要: A cartridge for a disk-shaped storage medium, wherein the cartridge has partition walls within the cartridge for separating the storage medium from other portions of the cartridge, thereby protecting the storage medium from damage due to debris particles. The partition walls are formed by ribs which protrude from the interior surfaces of each half of the cartridge. The ribs do not meet but rather define a small gap between them. The top of one rib has a V-shaped protrusion (taken perpendicular to the length of the rib) while the top of the other rib has a complementary V-shaped groove. Elongate debris particles are blocked from passage into the compartment containing the storage medium due to the tortuous path defined by the gap.
