    摘要: Provided are a liquid crystal panel assembly having no light guide plate (LGP) and a liquid crystal display apparatus. The liquid crystal panel assembly includes: a light source which generates light; a liquid crystal panel which displays the light generated from the light source as an image; at least one optical film disposed at a rear of the liquid crystal panel; a reflector sheet which is disposed at a rear of the optical film and reflects the light from the light source toward the optical film; a reflector which concentrates the light from the light source; an upper chassis and a lower chassis which house the light source, the liquid crystal panel, the optical film, the reflector sheet, and the reflector therebetween; and a middle chassis installed between the upper chassis and the lower chassis, wherein the reflector and the middle chassis form a single body.

    摘要: A thin projection type image display device with a low chin height includes a cabinet, a screen, a projection optical system, an optical path changing unit, and a reflecting unit. The screen is disposed on a front side of the cabinet. The projection optical system enlarges and projects an image formed by a display element, and the optical path changing unit is disposed on the bottom of the cabinet to reflect the image enlarged and projected by the projection optical system. The reflection unit is disposed obliquely to the screen and below the screen to reflect the image reflected by the optical path changing unit toward the screen. The projection optical system is disposed in a space above a horizontal plane perpendicular to the screen, behind the front side of the cabinet, and below an optical path of light incident on a bottom of the screen.

    摘要: A retro-reflect type light pipe, an illumination device including the same, and a projection display including the illumination device are provided. The retro-reflective type light pipe includes an incident portion through which light is incident, a guide portion which guides the incident light such that the incident light propagates internally therewithin while being reflected at inner walls thereof, and which thereby mixes the incident light thus providing uniform light. A retro-reflective portion, provided at one end of the guide portion, re-reflects the incident light toward the incident portion. The illumination device includes a light source, the retro-reflective type light pipe, and an optical path-changing member provided between the light source and the retro-reflective type light pipe, which changes the direction of the light emitted from the light source such that the light from the light source propagates toward the retro-reflective type light pipe.

    摘要: A color prism capable of separating incident light into four color beams and synthesizing incident four-color beams, and a projection-type image display apparatus employing the color prism. The color prism includes: first through third triangular prisms each having two boundary surfaces which face the other two triangular prisms, and an outer surface which transmits or reflects incident light according to an incidence angle of the light; and first through third dichroic filters respectively interposed among the first through third triangular prisms and selectively transmits or reflects incident light according to wavelength so as to separate incident light into first through fourth light beams according to wavelength ranges and synthesize incident first through fourth light beams. The projection-type image display apparatus includes: a light source emitting light; a polarization beam splitter to transmit or reflect incident light according to a polarization direction; the color prism; first through fourth image forming devices disposed to face the outer surfaces of the first through third triangular prisms, and selectively modulates incident first through fourth light beams by pixels to form images and reflects the formed images to the color prism; and a projection lens unit to enlarge and project an incident image formed by the first through fourth image forming devices and synthesized by the color prism onto a screen.
