摘要： In general, the present invention incorporates a cooling or heating wrap having internal channels to circulate a chilled or warmed fluid, with one or more layers of a thermo-conductive material to eliminate air pockets or gaps between the wrap and a human or animal body part. The thermo-conductive material may be applied directly to the human or animal skin and/or body part, may be encapsulated in a separate unit, or may be integrated into the wrap itself. The thermo-conductive material acts like a heat conduction medium between the heat exchanging wrap and the anatomical body part, to increase the therapeutic effect of the wrap.

摘要： A fluid chiller system supplying cold fluid to a therapeutic wrap, in which a minimum level of fluid flow is provided through the heat exchange coils to insure that the fluid in the coils does not freeze. A fluid flow meter or pressure sensor connected inline with the inlet port of the chiller unit measures a level of fluid flow. A controller is connected to the flow meter or pressure sensor and a bypass valve, wherein based on a signal from the flow meter or pressure sensor, the controller adjusts the bypass valve to provide a predetermined level of fluid flow into the inlet port of the chiller unit, in order to prevent the heat exchange coils from freezing, if the flow through the wrap is blocked.

The therapy wrap may be selectively reinforced for improved kink resistance in only a portion of the wrap. The reinforcement may decrease the kink radius. The wrap may include a kink reducer in all or only a selected kink-prone region. The kink reducer may be selectively configured attachment points or spot welds. The therapy wrap may include a reinforcement layer of one or more discrete reinforcement members. The wrap may be formed by pre-tensioning the material layers while forming the fluid bladder and/or gas pressure bladder. The therapy wrap may be adapted to compensate for conditions that normally cause kinking of the wrap or buckling of the fluidic channels. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing the wrap and methods of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part.

摘要： Temperature-controlled therapy wrap for treatment of at least a portion of an animate body including a fluid bladder including an inlet, an outlet, and at least one fluidic channel connecting the inlet to the outlet; and a thermal insulating member on the fluid bladder only directly adjacent the inlet and extending along the at least one fluidic channel. The therapy wrap may be adapted to compensate for a temperature delta in the wrap. The therapy wrap may include an insulating layer of one or more insulating members. The insulating layer is dimensioned and configured to have different coefficients of heat transfer. The insulating layer may have varying thicknesses and materials to achieve varying heat transfer rates. Also disclosed is a method of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part.
