摘要: Multilayer PSA label constructions that achieve a good balance of properties, namely, adhesive performance, convertibility, and laser printer performance, and, optionally, good wet-out on plastic substrates and low haze. The multilayer PSA construction comprising a facestock, a multilayer adhesive coating, and a release liner. The adhesive coating is made of a face side adhesive (FSA) layer comprising a first emulsion acrylic PSA, which is in contact with the inner surface of the facestock, and a liner side adhesive (LSA) layer, comprising a second emulsion acrylic PSA different from the first acrylic PSA, which is in contact with the FSA. The adhesive coating has a coat weight of less than about 26 g/m2 and a flow of less than about 50 &mgr;m at room temperature. The construction exhibits a loop tack value of at least about 3.5 N/25 mm at 5° C. on a polyethylene substrate. It has been discovered that multilayer PSA label constructions exhibiting these properties also exhibit good convertibility and laser printer performance.

摘要: Repulpable PSA compositions and constructions that exhibit high adhesive performance on a wide range of substrates are provided. In one embodiment, a PSA composition comprises a blend of two emulsion acrylic copolymers. The first type is a repulpable, emulsion acrylic copolymer that passes TAPPI UM 213. Preferably, the copolymer is prepared by sequential polymerization. The second type of copolymer is a non-repulpable, gpp or removable, repositionable, emulsion acrylic copolymer, also preferably prepared by sequential polymerization. The PSA compositions are inherently tacky and can be used in labels and tapes. In addition, they can be added to other PSAs as external tackifiers.

摘要: An ice breaking head for an ice producing machine is adjustable for producing harvested ice of selected sizes. The ice making machine has a cylinder, the inner surface of which produces commercial sheet ice. The ice is harvested by forcing the ice from out of the cylinder toward an ice breaking head. The position of ice breaking head is adjustable to vary the size of the ice harvested. The head has an ice breaking surface which contains fins for facilitating the breaking of the ice sheet. It is journalled on a mounting post which has keys or ribs of increasing heights which match corresponding keyway slots in the bore of the head so that the spacing of the head, and hence the size of the ice harvested, can be adjusted by changing the rotational position of the head on its mounting post.

摘要: Inherently tacky, pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions useful in marking film applications are provided. The compositions comprise polymer particles prepared by emulsion polymerization of at least one monomer mixture. The monomer mixture comprises at least one alkyl acrylate, the alkyl group of which has from about 4 to 12 carbon atoms, preferably in an amount of from about 73% to 90% by weight, at least one unsaturated carboxylic acid containing from about 3 to 5 carbon atoms, preferably in an amount of from about 2% to 12% by weight, and at least one hard monomer, preferably present in an amount of from about 5% to 15% by weight. The particles have a mean diameter of about 300 nm or less, as determined by laser light scattering. Preferably the hard monomer comprises a styrenic monomer, more preferably both a styrenic monomer and an alkyl methacrylate. In some embodiments, the compositions are prepared by sequential polymerization of the first and second monomer charges. The compositions may also contain one or more internal or external crosslinkers.
