    摘要: A light channeling layer disposed adjacent to the bottom substrate of a transflective display to enhance the back-lighting efficiency. The transflective display has a transmissive area and a reflective area and the transmissive area has a transmission electrode. The light channeling layer comprises a plurality of light conduits, each of which is disposed behind a transmission electrode. The light conduit has a first aperture and a second aperture greater than the first aperture and the first aperture is positioned adjacent to the transmission electrode and a second aperture adjacent to the back substrate, so that light from a back-light source that enters into the light conduct through the second aperture is channeled to the transmission electrode through the first aperture.

    摘要: A color adjustment method for a color sequential liquid crystal display (LCD) having at least one white light source is provided. In the color adjustment method, firstly, an original image signal is converted into a target color point located in a chromaticity diagram in a color space. Then, a modified image signal having white data is calculated according to the original image signal. Afterwards, the modified image signal is converted into a main color point located in the chromaticity diagram by using a matrix group. Then, a plurality of subfield data are calculated according to the main color point and the target color point. The subfield data are used for enabling the main color point to fall on the target color point.

    摘要: A transflective liquid crystal display panel comprises a plurality of pixel units. Each pixel unit comprises a first substrate, a second substrate and a cholesteric liquid crystal layer. The first substrate has a reflective region and a transparent region, and the first substrate comprises a first electrode layer covering the reflective region and the transparent region. The second substrate comprises a reflector and a second electrode layer, in which the reflector is aligned with the transparent region of the first substrate, and the reflector is covered by the second electrode layer. The cholesteric liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. Each pixel unit of the liquid crystal display panel displays a bright state and a dark state by the above mentioned reflector, such that the cholesteric liquid crystal can be applied to the transflective liquid crystal display.

    摘要: A color adjustment method for a color sequential liquid crystal display (LCD) having at least one white light source is provided. In the color adjustment method, firstly, an original image signal is converted into a target color point located in a chromaticity diagram in a color space. Then, a modified image signal having white data is calculated according to the original image signal. Afterwards, the modified image signal is converted into a main color point located in the chromaticity diagram by using a matrix group. The optical performance of the original prism elements can be altered by the following approaches. First, the refractive index of the fillings can be appropriately chosen. Second, the fillings can be up to an appropriate height (but never overruns the surrounding prism elements). Third, the distribution of the height or the refractive index of the fillings across the light emission plane can be “patterned,” that is, in accordance with the planar light intensity distribution produced by the light source.

    摘要: An adaptive feedback control method of a field sequential color display includes converting gray-scale values of a three primary color field of an input image into gray-scale values of a new three primary color field and a dominated color field (D-field); performing sampling; performing a pixel by pixel sum operation for each separated color through color gamut conversion to obtain a color difference sum; performing a feedback control at a bit precision to obtain a minimum color difference sum; and then performing a liquid crystal/backlight synchronization step of synchronizing a liquid crystal signal and a backlight gray-scale value of the input image; or dividing the input image into a plurality of blocks; performing feedback control operations; obtaining a minimum sum in each block to serve as an optical backlight value, thereby reducing a CBU phenomenon, and minimizing or controlling the generated CBUs to reduce the operation loads.
