    摘要: A method and apparatus for eliminating undesirable development of background charge potentials in a multicolor electrostatographic system is disclosed, wherein the application of a developer bias at a given development station is selectively controlled to be substantially equal to or greater than the background image voltage of the image generated by a preceding imaging station such that the voltage differential between toner particles at the development station and the background areas including the previous image areas is substantially zero and the electrostatic forces acting on the toner particles are insufficient to attract the toner particles to the residual image. A method and apparatus is disclosed for eliminating redevelopment of previous images in a multicolor electrostatographic system, and, more particularly, an image-on-image multicolor system, wherein the imaging and development biases for each color in the printing process is systematically adjusted so as to eliminate charge potential differentials which can operate to attract toner particles to the receiving member in a subsequent image development procedure.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for transferring a developed image from an image bearing member to a receiver substrate in a Contact Electrostatic Printing (CEP) system may be provided according to the present invention. The developed image is formed of a development material having a mixture of carrier fluid and pigmented polymeric particles, the composition of such mixture being selected for its characteristic behavior at an elevated temperature for transitioning to a substantially single phase. The method includes the steps of developing an image onto an image bearer using the aforementioned development material; concentrating the developed image; heating the developed image to a temperature at which the polymeric particles and the carrier fluid achieve a substantially single phase condition, so as to form a transferable image; and transferring the transferable image to a receiver substrate such as a paper sheet.

The methods include providing microcapsules, wherein the microcapsules have an electrostatic charge, and wherein the microcapsules comprise, a shell that is transparent and a display medium within the shell, wherein the display medium is comprised of either (a) at least two sets of differently colored particles in a substantially clear fluid, or (b) at least one set of colored particles in a differently colored fluid. The methods include transferring the microcapsules to a substrate, wherein the electrostatic charge of the microcapsules attracts the microcapsules to the substrate, wherein a display layer of microcapsules is formed on the substrate. The methods include positioning a conductive substrate adjacent to the substrate, wherein the substrate is located between the display layer and the conductive substrate. In use, the conductive substrate applies an electric field to the display layer, and wherein the sets of particles within each microcapsule in the display layer are moveable within the microcapsule by the electric field.
