Abstract: A remote server monitors a network of computing devices through hierarchical composite indicators by obtaining telemetry data from a computing device in a network of computing devices. The telemetry data includes performance attributes of the computing device. The server generates a composite indicator associated with the computing device based on a combination of at least two performance attributes of the computing device. The server monitors the composite indicator and, responsive to a determination that the composite indicator meets an alert threshold, generates an alert associated with the computing device. Additionally, the server can monitor the health of the network of computing devices based on composite indicators from multiple computing devices in the network.

Aspects of the embodiments are directed to a service application connected to a switch of a network fabric and a method of data plane integration performed at a service appliance, the service appliance providing firewall functionality. The service appliance can receive a data packet from a network location; determine a flow owner of the data packet based on a hashing table; and transmit the data packet based on the determined flow owner of the data packet.

Abstract: A feature trace capability may be provided for features including, but not limited to, automatic quality of service (auto QoS), power over Ethernet (PoE), and fabric compatibility. A network command may be implemented with the capability to validate features across a network path or the network as a whole. The output of this network command may result in the display of details about supported features. Such a command may also result in a listing of what devices require upgrades to support any number of features of interest. Embodiments of the feature trace capability may be configured such that the query gets terminated once a final subnet (or endpoint) is reached. Alternatively, the feature trace capability may be configured such that the query gets terminated after a maximum hop count, or trace total (trace_ttl) is reached. Such a limit may prevent the continuous flooding of the network.
