Abstract: A flooring surface treating device which can be used to spray a liquid cleaning solution onto a rug and then vacuum remove it, or else spray a wax-removing solution onto a wooden or tile floor surface and then vacuum remove it, etc., includes a lower carriage unit which is mounted to be movable on and over the surface to be treated and an adjustably interconnected upper handle unit for the operator's gripping. The lower carriage unit includes a shroud and a drive motor, the shroud generally enclosing and the drive motor rotating a wand which includes multiple radially-extending vacuum ducts and adjacent discharge pipes (with spray nozzles). The vacuum ducts are continuously connectable to a vacuum source and the discharge pipes are continuously connectable to a source of liquid treating solution.

Abstract: A compact, self-contained cleaner and liquid extraction unit having a body member wherein a handle half of the body has all of the electrical components sealed therein, and cleaning fluid is retained within a removable discharge head half of the body that defines a plenum chamber and carries a spray nozzle and vacuum intake head. Arrangements are provided for preventing cleaning solution from being discharged through the vacuum intake head or flowing into the vacuum blower for the unit, and in some embodiments, a single unit operates to create a vacuum in the plenum chamber and to pump cleaning fluid to the spray nozzle.

Abstract: A recycling extraction cleaner and dryer is provided which includes a unitary body member having a vacuum blower chamber, a plenum chamber and a nozzle head including a drying air discharge, a cleaning fluid discharge and a vacuum intake. A cleaning fluid container is removably mounted on the body to communicate with the cleaning fluid discharge, and a vacuum generator in the vacuum blower chamber creates a vacuum in the plenum chamber which communicates with the vacuum intake. The vacuum generator creates an exhaust air flow in the vacuum blower chamber which is directed to the drying air discharge to provide drying air under pressure to a surface to be cleaned and to increase the pressure differential between the plenum chamber and the surface contacting side of the nozzle head.

Abstract: A rotary flooring cleaner-polisher wherein a shroud overlies a plurality of floor contacting rotating wands. The operator is able to selectively supply fluid, a vacuum or both to the area beneath the shroud permitting both application and extraction within the defined area via a hollow central drive shaft. At least one of the rotating wands which are flexibly mounted to the drive shaft includes an elongated slot along its lower surface in communication with the vacuum source such that the extaction is done through the wand and then through the drive shaft. The solution to be applied to the flooring surface may be sprayed in a general pattern beneath the shroud or in a controlled manner through the interior of one or more of the wands.

Abstract: A vacuum head for a rotary cleaning head is disclosed that has a vacuum port arm defining a vacuum port, and a vacuum slot arm defining a vacuum slot. The vacuum head may be L-shaped, its vacuum port may extend along a radius of the rotary cleaning head, and its vacuum slot may extend in the direction of rotation of the rotary cleaning head. The vacuum slot receives vacuum from the vacuum port, and is operable to vacuum up at least most of any cleaning fluid that collects on the leading side of the vacuum head, to prevent that cleaning fluid from being slung outwardly from the rotary cleaning head. The leading side of the vacuum port arm and the leading end of the vacuum slot arm may be tapered to help the vacuum head ski up and over any fixed obstacles it encounters.

Abstract: A carpet cleaning head wherein the head 8 is fabricated of two mating elements, a shroud 12 and an inverted cup-shaped main body portion 14, wherein the main body portion incorporates radially extending vacuum scrubbers 30 and has secured thereto on the underside thereof nozzles 40 for supplying heated cleaning fluid under pressure.
