    摘要： An acoustic coupler for coupling a telephone handset to a source of shift frequency signals representing binary information comprising an enclosure adapted to mount a handset on edge so that the microphone of the handset is oriented in a vertical position. The coupler''s speaker, having a cone with a mouth portion, is tightly sealed within a housing with the mouth portion of the speaker cone in communication with an opening in the housing and the housing is sealed within the enclosure. The mouth portion of the speaker cone is also directly opposite and axially withdrawn from an exit portion in the enclosure so that there is a passage between the mouth of the speaker cone and the interior of the enclosure. The area of the exit port is slightly smaller than the area of the mouth portion of the speaker cone, and the peripheral edge of the exit port is surrounded by a collar of elastomeric material to acoustically and sealingly engage the transmitter portion of the telephone handset. An acoustic energy absorbing material such as felt covers the mouth portion of the speaker cone to provide an acoustic low-pass filter and the walls of the enclosure to provide high audio frequency damping.

    摘要： Error-detection apparatus for a transmission system of the type having means for transmitting data in the form of sequential characters comprising combinations of first and second signals wherein each character has the same characteristic and the characters are spaced from each other by an intercharacter signal represented by a preselected signal. The apparatus includes means for storing an intercharacter signal which follows a received character having said characteristic and comparing means for comparing the stored signal with the intercharacter signal following the next character having said characteristic and for producing an output signal when the compared intercharacter signal is represented by other than the preselected signal. Error indicating means responsive to the comparing means signal is provided for indicating a transmission equipment error.

    摘要： An information signal generating apparatus including a planar magnetic field shielding element which is provided with apertures representing coded information and through which a magnetic flux from a magnetic field source disposed on one side of the planar element is adapted to pass. A signal generator which may be in the form of a pair of facing pole pieces disposed on opposite sides of the planar element is adapted to move across the planar element and is provided with an inductively coupled winding. A current is induced in the winding when the pole pieces cut lines of force passing through the apertures thereby to produce electrical signals.
