Abstract:
A container is provided including a sidewall and a strainer. The strainer is fastened to the sidewall between the first and second ends of the sidewall and located within the interior cavity of the sidewall. The strainer may be comprised of a planar sheet of material that includes a plurality of holes sized to separate liquid from solid container contents.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the production of metallic titanium, characterized in that the process comprises reducing a titanium-fluorine compound selected from titanium tetrafluoride and any hexafluorotitanate soluble in a molten fluoroaluminate, with metallic aluminum in a molten fluoroaluminate. A process for the production of intermediates useful in the processing ilmenite and related minerals is also described.
Abstract:
A semen extender composition is provided. The semen extender composition includes a sperm cell protecting amount of phospholipid, an effective amount of surfactant to reduce ice crystal formation during freezing of the composition; a carbohydrate, and a biological buffer to provide a semen extender use solution having a pH of between about 6.9 and about 7.5, and wherein the use solution exhibits an osmolality of about 250 mOsM to about 350 mOsM. Methods for manufacturing and using a semen extender composition are provided.
Abstract:
A process is disclosed for the production of alumina by the Bayer process, including a precipitation process having an agglomeration stage and a growth stage in which the precipitation slurry is passed through a multiplicity of growth tanks. In the agglomeration stage, the precipitation slurry is maintained at a temperature of about 75.degree. C. to 85.degree. C. In the growth stage, the agglomeration slurry is cooled by about 1.degree. C. to 3.degree. C. in each growth tank of the multiplicity of growth tanks as compared to an adjacent previous growth tank. The temperature of the precipitation slurry leaving the final precipitator is preferably about 55.degree. C.
Abstract:
An apparatus for heating or cooling solid suspension slurry. The apparatus comprises a vessel (1) for containing the slurry and a draft means contained within a draft section of a draft tube (2) to circulate and maintain the suspension. Extending substantially the length of cylindrical section (26) of the draft tube below the draft means are plate heat exchangers (7, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29) connected in series. The plate heat exchangers may be recessed into the wall of the draft tube so as not to increase the pressure drop through the draft tube or may be arranged in pairs along the axis of the draft tube so that the proportion of the cross-sectional area of the draft tube occupied by the heat exchangers is minimized.

Abstract:
A lightweight, foldable cover adapted for attachment to a portable electric generator permits the generator to be operated while covered and shielded from weather. The cover includes rigid or semi-rigid sides hingeably joined and held in position with flexible straps. The cover allows unimpeded exhaust and airflow underneath the cover, and unimpeded access to controls and outlets. The flexible straps attach to the cover and the frame of the generator. The straps are adjustable to accommodate different generator frame sizes, and include quick release devices to allow rapid attachment to, or detachment from the generator frame for refueling or storage. When removed the cover folds nearly flat for storage.
