The network has a substrate with top and bottom surfaces and a common via extending through the substrate. Several resistor pairs are located on the first surface surrounding the common via. Each resistor pair has first and second vias. Resistors are connected between the first and second vias. Several solder spheres are located on the bottom surface. Each of the solder spheres are electrically connected to one of the first, second or common vias.

摘要： A resistor network for terminating active electronic devices has low cross talk noise between the adjoining resistors and the conductors that connect the resistors to other electronic packages. A substrate has a top and a bottom surface. Resistors are located on the top surface. Conductors are also located on the top surface and are electrically connected to each end of the resistors. Vias extend through the substrate and electrically connect to the conductors. Solder spheres are positioned on the bottom surface and are electrically connected to the vias. An end of each of the resistors is electrically connected in common through a common conductor. The commoned resistors are electrically connected to a common via through the common conductor. The resistor network minimizes cross talk noise between the resistors and provides a high density interconnection.

摘要： A computer keyboard has a pointing stick integrally molded into and projecting from a surface of a plastic housing. Keyboard keys extend through holes in the same plastic housing. Strain-sensitive resistors are formed in a small location onto a circuit substrate. The same circuit substrate that carries the strain-sensitive resistors also carries conductive pads for the key switches. The strain-sensitive resistor location is bonded to the housing adjacent the pointing stick, but on an opposite surface of the housing from the pointing stick protrusion.

The circuit lines extend onto the pointing stick cable from the flexible membrane. Keys are electrically connected to the circuit lines. A backing plate structurally supports the flexible membrane. The membrane is located between the backing plate and the housing. A pointing module is attached to the backing plate. The pointing module is electrically connected to the pointing stick cable such that electrical signals from the pointing module are conducted to the circuit lines on the pointing stick cable. The pointing stick cable wraps around a side of the backing plate.

摘要： A device for generating conditioned electrical signals in response to forces applied to the device. The device includes a shaft attached to a substrate. Several strain sensitive resistors are mounted on the substrate around the shaft for generating an electrical signal representative of a magnitude and direction of force applied to the shaft by a user. Several apertures are in the substrate, each aperture is located between a pair of strain sensitive resistors. The apertures concentrate the stress on the resistors. A signal conditioning device is mounted to the substrate and is electrically connected to the resistors for conditioning the electrical signal. The signal conditioning device receives the electrical signal in an analog form and provides a conditioned signal as an output in a digital form. The device is mounted to a keyboard base. An alternative embodiment is shown using a cavity instead of apertures in the substrate.

摘要： A thermal printer that includes a thermally conductive sacrificial member disposed between the thermal print head and the web. The sacrificial member is held generally under tension and prevents the web from directly engaging the thermal print head. The sacrificial member may take one of many different forms, including a fixed strip or belt, a rotatable, continuous belt which slowly recirculates during printing to equalize wear across its surface, or a Moebius loop which further provides that wear is equalized across both sides of the belt. By providing a sacrificial member between the print head and web, wear and exposure of the print head is reduced, thereby prolonging the life of the print head.
