Abstract: According to one implementation, a communication system includes a computing platform having one or more hardware processor(s) and a system memory storing a software code, as well as an image capture device, a transceiver, and a display including one or more display screen(s) controlled by the hardware processor(s). The communication system also includes a base including a motor coupled to a rotor for rotating the display. The hardware processor(s) is/are configured to execute the software code to receive audio-visual data including image data corresponding to a remote venue and render the image data on the display screen(s) while spinning the display to generate a floating image of the remote venue. The hardware processor(s) is/are further configured to execute the software code to, concurrently with spinning the display, obtain local image data of a local venue and transmit local audio-visual data including the local image data to the remote venue.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention disclosed herein provide techniques for implementing augmented reality (AR) gameplay across multiple AR gaming environments. A synchronized AR gaming application executing on an AR gaming console detects that a first gaming console that is executing an AR gaming application has exited a first AR gaming environment and entered a second AR gaming environment. The synchronized AR gaming application connects to a communications network associated with the second AR gaming environment. The synchronized AR gaming application detects, via the communications network, a sensor associated with the second AR gaming environment. The synchronized AR gaming application alters execution of the AR gaming application based at least in part on sensor data received via the sensor to enable the AR gaming application to continue executing as the first gaming console exits the first AR gaming environment and enters the second AR gaming environment.

Abstract: The systems described herein facilitate providing a virtual content with an intended appearance. The virtual content can be an interactive space. The interactive space may be presented on a display of a presentation device. The display can be a transparent display. The interactive space can be superimposed over a perspective of a physical real-world environment of a user. Environmental characteristics of the physical real-world environment can alter the intended appearance of the interactive space superimposed over a perspective of a physical real-world environment. The environmental characteristics include one or more of a light intensity, color, and/or other visual features of the physical real-world environment. The appearance of the interactive space can be altered to compensate for the environmental characteristics. The appearance of the interactive space can be altered such the user can perceive the interactive space as intended by the creator of the interactive space.

Abstract: A system has an augmented reality device and an unmanned aerial vehicle. The augmented reality device captures, from a perspective view of the augmented reality device, real-world imagery of a user within an augmented reality environment. Further, the augmented reality device generates virtual imagery to overlay the real-world imagery captured by the augmented reality image capture device from the perspective view of the augmented reality device. Finally, the augmented reality device determines a position and an orientation of an augmented reality device accessory within a common coordinate space. Moreover, the unmanned aerial vehicle captures, from a perspective view of the unmanned aerial vehicle, real-world imagery of the user within the augmented reality environment. The unmanned aerial vehicle determines a position of the unmanned aerial vehicle within the common coordinate space. Further, the unmanned aerial vehicle generates virtual imagery to overlay the real-world imagery captured by the unmanned aerial vehicle.

Abstract: This disclosure presents systems and methods to synchronize visual effects and haptic feedback for interactive experiences. Visual circuit control signals may dictate control of a presentation device to present images forming virtual content. Haptic circuit control signals may dictate control of a haptic feedback device to provide haptic output. Timing information conveying one or both of latency in the execution of the visual circuit control signals by the presentation device and/or latency in the execution of the haptic circuit control signals by the haptic feedback device may be determined. Based on the timing information, transmission of the visual circuit control signals to the presentation device and/or transmission of the haptic circuit control signals to the haptic feedback device may be effectuated so that the presentation of images and provision of haptic output occur within a threshold time span.

Abstract: A system has an augmented reality device accessory that interacts with a virtual element in an augmented reality experience. Further, the system has an augmented reality device that that renders a virtual element that overlays a real-world element in the augmented reality experience. The augmented reality device also determines that the augmented reality device accessory meets one or more mobility criteria with respect to the virtual element. Further, the augmented reality device adjusts the rendering of the virtual element to increase visibility of the real-world element based on the one or more mobility criteria being met.

Abstract: According to one implementation, an image display system includes a computing platform having a hardware processor and a system memory storing a software code, a display coupled to the computing platform, and a visual filter and at least partially surrounding the display and having an opaque mode and a transparent mode. The hardware processor executes the software code to set the visual filter to the opaque mode to obscure the display. The hardware processor also executes the software code to generate a visual image using the display, to obtain an operating parameter of the image display system corresponding to a status of the display, and to detect that the operating parameter meets a predetermined criterion. In response to detecting that the operating parameter meets the predetermined criterion, the hardware processor further executes the software code to set the visual filter to the transparent mode to make the display visible.
