    摘要: Methods and structures for the fabrication of both thin film longitudinal and perpendicular write heads are disclosed. A unique feature of these write heads is the inclusion of layered return poles, which comprise alternating layers of 22/78 and 80/20 NiFe alloys. The alternating layers also vary in thickness, the 22/78 NiFe layers having a nominal thickness of 1500 angstroms and the 80/20 NiFe layers having a nominal thickness of about 75 angstroms. Head efficiency and signal to noise ratios are significantly improved in heads having layered return pole construction.

    摘要: A fixture for interacting with an exhaust system having exhaust pipes and mufflers and an image of the exhaust system, the image having location indicia locating the fixture on the image, displacement data associated with the location indicia indicates an alignment point in space above the image, the fixture comprising at least two stands adapted to lie in a selected positions relative to the image, an alignment mark on the stands, the alignment mark being adapted to align the stands with the location indicia on the image, and at least two modules, a plurality of holders configured differently from one another to be attached to a module, each holder defining a coordinate point that moves relative to the stand and image in response to movement of the module relative to the stand, the plurality of holders including at least one pipe holder configured to receive the exhaust pipe therein to position a central axis of the exhaust pipe at the coordinate point and a muffler holder configured to cooperate with another stand and another module to receive a muffler, and wherein the modules are configured to be coupled to the stand for movement relative to the stand to position the coordinate point of an attached holder at the alignment point in space above the image so that the module is moved to assume a selected position relative to the stand.

    摘要: A magnetic write head for perpendicular magnetic recording having a write pole with a concave trailing edge. The magnetic write pole can have a trapezoidal shape with first and second laterally opposed sides that are further apart at the trailing edge than at the leading edge. The write head may or may not include a magnetic trailing shield, and if a trailing shield is included it is separated from the trailing edge by a non-magnetic write gap layer. The concave trailing edge improves magnetic performance such as by improving the transition curvature. A method for constructing the write head includes forming a magnetic write pole by forming a mask structure over a deposited write pole material, the mask structure having an alumina hard mask and an image transfer layer such as DURAMIDE®. An alumina fill layer is then deposited and a chemical mechanical polish is performed to open up the image transfer layer. A reactive on etch is performed to remove the image transfer layer and a reactive ion mill or reactive ion etch is performed to remove the alumina hard mask and form a concave surface on the write pole.

    摘要: A magnetic recording head for use in perpendicular magnetic recording having a design that allows the write coil to be manufactured by a damascene process for increased coil pitch and reduced coil resistance. The magnetic write head includes a photoresist dam structure that allows a hard baked photoresist to be formed that does not extend to the air bearing surface (ABS). Since the photoresist dam prevents the hard baked photoresist from reaching the ABS, the a damascene process, in which the hard baked photoresist remains in the finished write head, can be used to produce the write head. The use of such a damascene process advantageously allows the space between the coil turns to be reduced, which maximizes the number of turns that can be used and also maximizes the number width to which the coil turns can be constructed, thereby minimizing the electrical resistance of the write coil.
