    摘要: Improved fire-retarded properties can be imparted to polycarbonate resin composition by incorporating into the polycarbonate a fire-retardant component containing a perfluoroallkane sulfonate such as potassium perfluorobutane sulfonate and a cyclic siloxane such as octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane. The fire-retardant component is suitably added at levels to form a polycarbonate composition in which the perfluoroalkane sulfonate is present in an amount of from 0.02 to 0.1 phr relative to the composition as a whole, and the cyclic siloxane is present in an amount of at least 0.02 relative to the composition as a whole.

    摘要: Disclosed are aromatic brominated polycarbonate/polyester carbonate/silicone polyimide compositions having improved flame resistance and reduced drippage and heat release rate, comprising by weight:(A) from about 20 to about 77 parts of an aromatic brominated polycarbonate resin;(B) from about 20 to about 77 parts of a polyester carbonate resin;(C) from about 0.5 to about 10 parts of a silicone-polyimide resin;(D) from about 0 to about 25 parts of an aromatic polycarbonate having a molecular weight of from about 40,000 to about 90,000; the sum of (A)-(D) being 100 parts by weight;(E) from about 0.05 to about 2.0 parts of a metal salt of a halogenated monomeric or polymeric aromatic sulfonic acid or mixtures thereof, wherein the metal salt is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts, alkaline earth metal salts, and mixtures of the metal salts; and(F) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 parts by weight of filler or a pigment.

    摘要: The level of anhydride linkages in copolyestercarbonates is decreased by preparing the copolyestercarbonate interfacially in a two-step method from at least one dihydroxyaromatic compound and at least one dicarboxylic acid. The first step is conducted at a pH in the range of about 4.5-9.5, employing the combination of a phase transfer catalyst such as a tetraalkylammonium halide and a tertiary amine such as triethylamine. The proportion of the phase transfer catalyst is in the range of about 3-12 mole percent based on total dihydroxyaromatic compound and dicarboxylic acid employed. In the second phosgenation step, the pH is raised to at least 10 and a stoichiometric phosgene excess of at least 5% is introduced.
