    摘要： A method is provided for stabilizing a tampon. The method includes providing a pledget having a moisture content and including one or more metallic cation salts, compressing the pledget to produce a tampon, and applying microwave radiation to the tampon for a time sufficient to stabilize the tampon. The time to stabilize a tampon can be reduced by at least about 20% compared to the time to stabilize a tampon lacking one or more metallic cation salts.

    摘要： The invention provides an individual package in combination with an absorbent interlabial device. The package has a longitudinal axis, a top portion, a bottom portion positioned oppositely to the top portion, a first surface and a second surface. The package may be folded about the longitudinal axis to form two halves or it may be formed from one more sheets fitted together to form the package. The package may be re-sealable. An absorbent interlabial device is positioned within the package. The absorbent interlabial device is readily retrievable from the package such that a user neither touches nor contaminates the absorbent portion of the absorbent interlabial device with any part of her hand prior to the use and in using the absorbent interlabial device.

    摘要： An expandable bag catamenial tampon and spreading tampon applicators for such a tampon are disclosed. The catamenial tampon is in the form of a soft, conformable, hollow bag. The applicator is capable of inserting the tampon into the vaginal tract and spreading the tampon open within the vaginal cavity. The applicator has an applicator element with a leading end and a trailing end. The bag-like tampon is placed over the leading end of the applicator when the tampon is in a flaccid initial configuration which defines an initial width, and the applicator is used to spread the tampon to a greater deployed width. In one embodiment, the applicator comprises tube having an interior and a flexible material which has one end that is formed into a flexible and expandable loop. The flexible loop is slidably mounted within the tube. The flexible loop is contained inside the tube until it is desired to deploy the tampon. When it is desired to deploy the tampon, the flexible loop with the tampon thereon is pushed out the expulsion end of the tube. The flexible loop expands laterally and spreads the tampon open within the vaginal cavity.
