Gateway devices, systems, and methods for facilitating control system upgrades including hosting a web application via a gateway device that permits configuration of the gateway device via a web browser. A redundant gateway system can be implemented such that both a primary gateway device and a secondary gateway device are used in conjunction. The web application can provide significant advantages in terms of ease of configurability and integration of legacy input/output (I/O) systems to facilitate control system upgrades in a variety of applications.

A plant wireless access point (PWAP) is disclosed that bridges communications between a field communicator and a plant automation network. The PWAP may facilitate provisioning of new plant devices into a plant automation wireless network using the field communicator, and may also facilitate the field communicator performing various functions regarding one or more plant devices connected to the plant automation network. The PWAP may allow a field communicator to access information from the plant automation network and/or from other sources via the plant automation network such as the Internet. In addition, the PWAP may determine a location of one or more field communicators relative to the PWAP and/or other devices connected to the plant automation network.

Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to provide firewalls for process control systems are disclosed. An example method includes analyzing a network communication to identify a first service, an address associated with the first service within a secured portion of a network, and a subset of ports used by the first service, the network communication originating from within the secured portion of the network and to be transmitted to a destination outside of the secured portion of the network, and storing an identifier of the first service, the address, and the subset of the ports when the network communication includes the identifier, the address, and the subset of the ports.
