A ring for use in anastomosis. Preferably, the ring is integrally formed from metal, and includes a ring portion and tines and docking members that extend from the ring portion. The ring portion and tines are malleable, and preferably also the docking members are malleable. The ring portion and tines are malleable in the sense that once deformed from a first shape into a second shape, they will not relax back into the first shape from the second. To install the ring in a vessel with the ring portion extending around an incision or other orifice, the tines pierce the tissue around the orifice and are curled against an anvil. The action of curling the tines inverts the tissue near the orifice edges to expose the inside surface of the vessel or organ. Other aspects of the invention are a method and apparatus for installing an anastomosis ring in an incision or other orifice in a vessel or other organ, a method and apparatus for precisely aligning two anastomosis rings (each installed in an incision or other orifice of a different organ) and fastening the aligned rings together. The clips can be crimped onto the aligned rings, or they can be spring clips which are sprung onto the aligned rings to clamp the rings together by spring force. Also within the scope of the invention are crimping and spring clips for use in fastening together two aligned anastomosis rings. In other embodiments, the invention is a method for performing an anastomosis by installing an anastomosis ring in an orifice in an organ, installing another anastomosis ring in an orifice in another organ, precisely aligning the two installed anastomosis rings, and fastening the aligned rings together.

A method and apparatus is defined for automatically igniting and controlling a gaslight to turn ON the gaslight in the evening and turn OFF the gaslight in the morning or alternatively, using a switch or timer to turn the gaslight on and off. The gaslight may be either a mantle type burner or an open flame type burner. The igniter consists of a high voltage spark generator that is controlled by a microcontroller to enable the spark when the microcontroller senses that darkness has occurred or a preset time of day has occurred. The spark is generated across a spark probe gap that is positioned in an optimum location to ignite the gas/air mixture. We and others have been manufacturing gaslight igniters for several years and this patent pertains to recent concepts and implementations that greatly improve the automatic igniter/burner utility and operation. The physical parameters of the device are also important. The device is sized so that it will fit easily inside of a 3-inch lamppost, or install easily within most gas lamp heads. The device is flexible in configuration to allow the burner/probe to be oriented axially with the igniter, or oriented perpendicular to the igniter to provide great flexibility in using the igniter with various burners and gas light heads. Quick disconnect fittings for gas and low voltage electric make the igniter/burner assembly easy to change without tools, similar to changing a light bulb.

An accumulator fuel system for an internal combustion engine having a plurality of engine cylinders, includes an accumulator fuel volume for supplying high pressure fuel to one or more of a plurality of injectors, each of which is arranged to supply fuel to an associated one of the engine cylinders. The accumulator fuel volume is integrated within an engine component, where the engine component provides a purpose other than that solely of an accumulator volume for storing high pressure fuel. The accumulator fuel volume is therefore defined in an existing engine component, to reduce part count, weight and cost. In one embodiment the accumulator fuel volume is defined within a rocker shaft of the engine and in another embodiment within the engine cylinder head.

Interpolated scale factors are obtained based on the absolute scale factors. Parametric data for the remaining compilers of the sparsely characterized compiler set is filled out by applying the interpolated scale factors in conjunction with the data of the congruent memory compilers of the first type.

A fuel shut-off valve (618) is provided in the system which is operable between a closed position in which fuel is retained within the pressurising arrangement (604) and an open position in which pressurised fuel is supplied to the injector (200) from the pressurising arrangement (604) during an injection of fuel from the rail fuel supply passage (608). Operating the shut-off valve in this way provides a boost in the fuel pressure delivered during an injection event.
