摘要: This invention provides a system for performing PCR, and real time PCR in particular, with great speed and specificity. The system employs a heat block containing a liquid composition to rapidly transfer heat to and from reaction vessels. The system makes use of the reflective properties of the liquid metal to reflect signal from the PCR into the vessel and out the top. In this way, the signal can be measured by an optical assembly in real time without removing the vessels from the heat block.

摘要: A printed circuit board structure is coated with an encapsulant within which microfluidic channels have been formed. The microfluidic channels are formed by soldering fluidic connections to metal traces on a surface of the printed circuit board structure prior to encapsulation. The metal traces are removed by etching after encapsulation to form microchannels within the encapsulant.

The one or more channels can have respective boundaries. A layer of adhesive including one or more panel-shaped pieces having a pattern based on the pattern of boundaries of the channels can be formed and applied on the surface of the body. It is further controlled that the layer of adhesive has respective boundaries surrounding the boundaries of the one or more channels.

摘要: A method of etching active quantum nanostructures provides the step of laterally etching of an intermediate active quantum nanostructure layer interposed between cladding layers. The lateral etching can be carried out on at least one side of the intermediate active quantum nanostructure layer selectively, with respect to the cladding layers to define at least one lateral recess or spacing in the intermediate active quantum nanostructure layer and respective lateral protrusions of cladding layers protruding with respect to the intermediate active quantum nanostructure layer. This method can be applied to create devices including active quantum nanostructures such as, for example, three-dimensional photonic crystals, a photonic crystal double-slab and a photonic crystal laser.
