A cam is operably connected to the lever handle and positioned to rotate in response to rotation of the lever handle, converting its rotational movement to linear movement of a movable slider positioned adjacent to the cam. A lift arm is operably connected to vertical rods of the door latch assembly and an over-ride spring is connected between the slider and the lift arm. The over-ride spring transmits motion of the slider to the lift arm to lift the lift arm and the connected vertical rods when the door latch assembly is in an unlocked position. The over-ride spring compresses in response to slider movement when the blocking slide is positioned to block movement of the lift arm when the door latch assembly is in its locked position, preventing damage to components of the door lever assembly. In an unlocked position, a pivot rotates to control contact between the slider and the stop plate.

    摘要: A fluid shear coupling apparatus includes a driving member comprising a rotor mounted to a shaft and defining several annular ridges and grooves. A driven member including a bearing housing is mounted to the shaft. A cover secured at the perimeter to the bearing housing has a disc-shaped portion defining several annular ridges and grooves positioned complementary with the ridges and grooves of the rotor. A shear fluid therebetween provides variable coupling according to the proportion of fluid in the reservoir vis a vis the working chamber defined by the complementary grooves and ridges. A temperature responsive valve cooperates with a modulation ramp encasing the valve end to provide a fluid control orifice which varies in size and radial location in response to temperature, thereby providing temperature modulation of the amount of shear fluid in the working chamber, and consequently, the degree of coupling.

    摘要: An apparatus for providing an electrical connection from a power source, through a stationary door frame, into a door to connect to door-mounted electrically-operated hardware, includes an electrical junction box installed in a mortise cavity in the door frame adjacent to a similar electrical junction box installed in a mortise cavity in an edge of the door. The junction boxes are adjacent each other when the door is in a closed position; and a housing is installed in each junction box, each housing having a longitudinal slot in a face plate thereof of a length substantially equal to the length of the junction box. A hollow tube, having an elbow swivelably mounted on each end, has one elbow swivelably engaged in the substantially circular hole of the cover plate of the housing mounted in the door frame and the other elbow swivelably engaged in the substantially circular cover plate of the housing mounted in the door. A conductor cable connected to a power source, in the junction box mounted in the door frame, extends through the elbows and the hollow tube into the junction box mounted in the door, and connects to leads to door hardware mounted in or on the door.
