摘要: A continuous positive pressure device which includes an air reservoir connected to a delivery device (e.g. mask or mouthpiece) by an air supply hose; the reservoir includes a rigid protective housing and a plate which applies uniform pressure on the reservoir irrespective of its degree of inflation; the plate is connected to the housing by a non distorting and expandable frame which can expand or contract to permit movement of the plate only in a single plane, as the reservoir inflates or deflates.

摘要: A ventilator which includes: at least one pair of reciprocating opposed gas moving means, the internal volume of which is arranged to be reduced and enlarged by a balanced drive, said gas moving means being arranged to move gas at a predetermined pressure and/or volume to a delivery tube; control means for regulating the speed and the distance of movement of the drive; wherein the masses of all moving parts are balanced so as to minimise the vibration of the ventilator in use.

摘要: A method of providing blood glucose therapy for a critically ill patient includes calculating a baseline nutrition feed requirement based on an algorithm that incorporates at least one of age, gender, and body size of the patient: determining a first blood glucose level; determining a second blood glucose level after a preselected time interval: determining a first body temperature reading: comparing the blood glucose levels: and administering either nutrition or insulin. The amount of nutrition administered to the patient is based on a first change in blood glucose level, the current body temperature reading, and a predetermined feed algorithm based on the second blood glucose level as well as the baseline nutritional feed requirement. The amount of insulin administered is based on a second change in blood glucose level, body temperature, and a predetermined insulin algorithm that incorporates at least one of the patient's body frame size, age, and gender.
