摘要: A pedestrian protection system is mounted in the front portion of a vehicle, and includes a controller, a forward movement holding mechanism controlled in actuation by the controller, and a contact body that a pedestrian can contact. The controller, when having predicted a collision of a pedestrian with the vehicle based on a signal from a collision predicting sensor, actuates the forward movement holding mechanism to cause a forward movement of the contact body, and based on a signal from a turn sensor when the forward movement holding mechanism carries out an upward rotation or a downward rotation at the time of contact of the forwardly moved contact body with a pedestrian, controls actuation of the restraint body so as to correspond to a pedestrian moving to a front upper side of the vehicle and a pedestrian moving to a front lower side of the vehicle, respectively.

摘要: A pedestrian protection system is mounted in the front portion of a vehicle, and includes a controller, a forward movement holding mechanism controlled in actuation by the controller, and a contact body that a pedestrian can contact. 摘要: The occupant protection system includes a catching body that is housed in a housing located between a near-by seat and a distant seat for upward deployment and a support body that supports the catching body. The catching body covers the impact side of a distant-side occupant to catch the occupant moving toward the impacted lateral and includes a distal end acting as a free end swingable in a left and right direction. The support body is located on a side of the near-by seat close to the impacted lateral for deployment to support the catching body when the catching body swings toward the impacted lateral after receiving the distant-side occupant.

摘要: An air bag system M1 is installed in a vehicle having front side doors 13 which are installed adjacent to the rear of front pillars 1 and which each have an outside rearview mirror 27. An air bag 42 includes a pillar covering portion 47 which is disposed to cover a front surface 1a of the front pillar 1 when it completes its inflation and a fitting cell portion 50 which is installed below the pillar covering portion 47 and which is disposed so that when it completes its inflation, a rear end side portion thereof fits in a space defined between the outside rearview mirror 27 and a lateral side of the vehicle on an upper surface side of the outside rearview mirror. The fitting cell portion 50 is connected to a lower edge side of the pillar covering portion 47 over substantially the whole area in a front-rear direction thereof.

摘要: An air bag system M1 is installed in a vehicle having front side doors 13 which are installed adjacent to the rear of front pillars 1 and which each have an outside rearview mirror 27. 摘要: A method for protecting an occupant seated on a seat of a vehicle in a side collision of the vehicle is disclosed. In the method, the lumbar region of the occupant is retained in a section that corresponds to the pelvis rearward of the acetabulum in the skeletal structure of the occupant by using an impact absorbing member. Specifically, the lumbar region of the occupant is retained in a section that corresponds to an ilium in the skeletal structure of the occupant. In a side collision of the vehicle, the impact absorbing member initially contacts the lumbar region in a section corresponding to the ilium.

摘要: An air bag system includes an air bag which can cover a front surface side of a front pillar of a vehicle. The air bag includes an inflatable main body portion and a supporting inflatable portion. The inflatable main body portion covers a front surface of the front pillar when the air bag is inflated completely. The supporting inflatable portion stretches continuously from the inflation main body portion so as to extend towards an outside of the vehicle from the inflation main body portion and is disposed to be brought into abutment with an upper surface of a mirror main body of a door mirror which is in a usable position on a lower surface side so as to be supported thereon to thereby support the inflatable main body portion, when the air bag is inflated completely.
