摘要: Various embodiments described herein relate to techniques for computing dimensions of an object using multiple range images. In this aspect, the multiple range images are captured from selective locations and satisfy a pre-defined criterion. In accordance with various embodiments, at least a pair of 3D points are identified from the multiple range images, which correspond to at least one geometric feature on a surface of the object. In this regard, a correspondence score is estimated for the identified at least one pair of 3D points. The correspondence score is then utilized for registering the at least one pair of 3D points. Based in part on the registration of the 3D points and 3D point clouds retrieved from the captured images, the dimensions of the object are computed.

摘要: Methods to improve the accuracy of non-contact measurements of an object's dimensions using a dimensioning system are disclosed. The methods include a method for creating a mathematical model (i.e., error model) based on an observed correlation between errors in an estimated dimension and the characteristics of the measurement used to obtain the estimated dimension. These error models may be created for various dimensions and stored for future use. The methods also include a method for using the stored error models to reduce the error associated with a particular dimensioning-system measurement. Here an error model is used to create an estimated error. The estimated error is then removed from the estimate of the dimension to produce a final estimate of the dimension that is more accurate.

摘要: A dimensioning system including a computing device running an alignment software program is disclosed. The alignment software uses range information from a range sensor in order to generate alignment messages. The alignment messages may help a user define a frame of reference and align the dimensioning system's range sensor for improved dimensioning performance.

摘要: An imaging device for producing a high resolution image of a target with an imaging sensor and a method using the same is provided. The method is comprised of the steps of: determining, from the target size, resolution requirements of the image to be produced; capturing multiple individual low resolution images of the target, a minimum number of individual images captured being based upon the resolution requirements determined in the determining resolution requirements step; moving the OIS module to specific positions between the capturing of the individual low resolution images in the capturing multiple low resolution images step, the specific positions being based upon the resolution requirements in the determining resolution requirements step; and processing the multiple low resolution images to produce a high resolution image.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring the condition of packages at various checkpoints when the packages are being shipped. A package status monitoring system, according to one implementation, comprises a plurality of package analyzers, a package status server, and a database. The package analyzers are configured to analyze the condition of a package at multiple locations as the package is transported from a starting location to a final destination. Each package analyzer is configured to produce package status information regarding the condition of the package. The package status server is configured to receive the package status information from the multiple locations through a communications network. The database is configured to store the package status information received by the package status server. The package status server enables a remote user device to access the package status information.

摘要: A system and method for package dimensioning is provided. The package-dimensioning system includes an image capturing subsystem for acquiring information about an object within the image-capturing subsystem's field of view. A features-computation module analyzes object information and compiles a feature set describing the object's surface features. A classification module analyzes the feature set and categorizes the object's shape. A shape-estimation module estimates the dimensions of the object.

摘要: A mobile dimensioning device, i.e. a mobile dimensioner, is described that uses a dynamic accuracy while still being compatible with the NIST standard. Even if the accuracy division is dynamic and not predetermined, a mobile dimensioning device of the present invention reports the actual dimensioning prior to measurement capture and can therefore be certified and used in commercial transactions.
