摘要: An electrophotographic process in which image information exposure step and a developing step are substantially simultaneously carried out to opposite sides of a photosensitive member includes preparing an electrophotographic photosensitive member having a conductive base layer transmitting light and a photosensitive layer thereon; exposing the conductive base side of the photosensitive member to light information; rubbing an opposite side of the photosensitive member with a developer supplied with a developing bias voltage of the same polarity as the polarity of the developer in a region including an upstream side end a downstream side of an image exposure region of the photosensitive member; wherein an absolute value of a sum of a triboelectric charge potential provided on a surface of the photosensitive member by rubbing between the developer and the photosensitive member, and a surface potential of the photosensitive member provided by application of the developing bias upstream of the image exposure region, is larger than an absolute value of the developing bias.

摘要: For a temperature adjustment process that uses high viscosity ink and is based on a first table, in a low temperature environment, an ink refill failure may occur and lower density may appear in high duty printing. Also for a temperature adjustment process that uses high viscosity ink and is based on second and third tables, in a low temperature environment, an ink refill failure may occur and lower density may appear. On the other hand, for a temperature adjustment process that employs a fourth table, a smaller pre-heat pulse width than that for the first table, for the conventional temperature adjustment, is employed in the same low temperature environment. Therefore, an ink refill failure does not occur, and horizontal or vertical gaps do not appear during high duty printing.

摘要: For a serial color ink jet printing apparatus that forms an image using a symmetric printing head that ejects large dots and small dots, the configuration of a printing head is provided for suppressing, to the extent possible, a cyclic fluctuation in the main scanning direction. According to the present invention, individual nozzle arrays are arranged so that two nozzle arrays, i.e., a cyan nozzle array c1 and a magenta nozzle array m1, that are located nearer each other, form dots on adjacent scan lines. With this arrangement, a high quality image, having neither an uneven density nor an uneven color, can be formed when a printing head is inclined, or when a cyclic shift in printing positions occurs, depending on the position of the main scanning direction.

摘要: In a printing apparatus improvement of drying ability and reduction of consumed power are concurrently achieved by improving the efficiency of drying ink. More concretely, hot air is blown onto a print medium printed by ink, and a portion of the blown hot air is recovered and blown again. Before the hot air is blown, the print medium is heated by a preheating unit, making it higher than the dew point temperature of the blown hot air.

摘要: The present invention provides a liquid application device and an ink jet recording apparatus each capable of reducing deterioration in application quality due to an increase in the number of times of use of a roller, thereby improving durability. The present invention includes an application roller which applies liquid to an application medium, and a liquid retention member which retains the liquid in a liquid retention space formed by making the application roller be in contact with the retention member. With this structure, a pool of the liquid is formed, with rotation of the application roller, in an area upstream of a contact area, in a rotational direction, between the application member and the retention member at a side where a surface of the application member enters the contact area therebetween.
