    摘要: An optical recording medium which is a multilayer optical recording medium including a plurality of recording layers and records or reproduces information by the irradiation of light having a wavelength of λ0. At least one recording layer out of a plurality of recording layers includes a variable absorption film. The variable absorption film contains a material in which an electron energy has a band structure, and the absorption end of an absorption spectrum moves toward a longer wavelength side with a rise in temperature when light is absorbed by transition between electron bands, has a first absorptance to light having a wavelength of λ0 when a film temperature is a first temperature (application environment temperature), and has a second absorptance higher than the first absorptance to light having a wavelength of λ0 when a film temperature is a second temperature higher than the first temperature.

    摘要: A transmission diffraction grating body including a base material being substantially transparent with respect to wavelength λ1 and having a refractive index n0; another base material being substantially transparent with respect to wavelength λ1 and having a refractive index n1, which is formed on the base material having a refractive index n0; and a relief diffraction grating formed on the base material having a refractive index n1; wherein the refractive indexes n1 and n0 satisfy the relationship: n1>n0. Thus, the base material having a refractive index n1 can be formed of a high refractive index material, and when the depth of grating of the diffraction grating is set so that the diffraction grating diffracts the light with wavelength λ1 and does not diffract the light with wavelength λ2, the depth of grating of the diffraction grating can be made to be shallow, thus preventing the loss of the amount of the light with wavelength λ1. Furthermore, since base materials each having a different refractive index are bonded to each other to form a diffraction grating body, it is possible to minimize the use amount of the relatively expensive material having a high refractive index. Furthermore, since the most of the diffraction grating body can be formed of a material having a low refractive index, it is possible to lower the height of the diffraction index body.

    摘要: An optical head device includes a light source for emitting a light beam having a predetermined wavelength, an optical system for converging the light beam emitted from the light source on an information medium, and a light detector for receiving the light beam reflected from the information medium and detecting a focus error signal based on the received light beam. The light detector includes a plurality of pairs of photodetectors. The light detector generates the focus error signal based on a differential signal generated by each pair of the plurality of pairs of photodetectors. The plurality of pairs of photodetectors are arranged so that a fluctuation in the differential signal generated by at least one of the pairs of the plurality of pairs of photodetectors is cancelled by a fluctuation in the differential signal generated by at least another of the pairs of the plurality of pairs of photodetectors.

    摘要: A compound objective lens is composed of a hologram lens or transmitting a part of incident light without any diffraction to form a beam of transmitted light and diffracting a remaining part of the incident light to form a beam of first-order diffracted light, and an objective lens for converging the transmitted light to form a first converging spot on a front surface of a thin type of first information medium and converging the diffracted light to form a second converging spot on a front surface of a thick type of second information medium. Because the hologram selectively functions as a concave lens for the diffracted light, a curvature of the transmitted light differs from that of the diffracted light. Therefore, even though the first and second information mediums have different thicknesses, the transmitted light incident on rear surface of the first information medium is converged on the its front surface, and the diffracted light incident on a rear surface of the second information medium is converged on the its front surface. That is, the compound objective lens has two focal points.

    摘要: An optical head apparatus consists of a semiconductor laser for radiating a light beam, a first collimator lens for collimating the light beam, a wedge-like prism for reshaping the light beam, a beam splitter for transmitting the light beam in an outgoing path and splitting the light beam in an incoming path, an objective lens for converging the light beam at an information medium in which information is stored, a plane type of hologram lens integrally formed with the objective lens for excessively correcting chromatic aberration of the objective lens to cancel out chromatic aberration of the collimator lens, a second collimator lens for converging the light beam split, a photo detector for detecting intensity of the light beam converged to obtain an information signal and servo signals, and an actuating unit for slightly moving the objective lens and the hologram lens according to the servo signals. A wavelength of the light beam is lengthened as intensity of the light beam is increased. Even though an astigmatic difference occurs in the semiconductor laser, the change of a focal length of the collimator lens cancels out the change of the astigmatic difference to prevent the occurrence of astigmatic aberration.
