Abstract: A gate driver IC (i.e., gate driver circuit), when set to a first mode by a logic signal of the terminal FNC*, shifts data in the gate driver IC in synchronization with one clock cycle of a clock inputted to the terminal CLK** (clock input terminal), and outputs a selection voltage or a non-selection voltage based on a data position in the gate driver IC; and when set to a second mode by a logic signal of the terminal FNC*, shifts data in the gate driver IC in synchronization with n clock cycles (n is an integer of at least 2) of a clock inputted to the terminal CLK**, and outputs the selection voltage or the non-selection voltage based on the data position in the gate driver IC.

Abstract: An image display apparatus includes a display screen on which pixel circuits are disposed in a matrix, each of which includes an EL element, a transistor connected to a first gate signal line, a transistor connected to a second gate signal line, and a driving transistor. A second gate signal line driving unit and a first gate signal line driving unit of a first gate driving circuit apply a control voltage to the first gate signal line and the second gate signal line, respectively. The second gate signal line driving unit of a second gate driving circuit applies a control voltage to the first gate signal line. An ON voltage, a first OFF voltage, and a second OFF voltage are sequentially applied to the first gate signal line. The ON voltage and the first OFF voltage are sequentially applied to the second gate signal line.

Abstract: The number of control lines to be formed on a COF in serial connection is reduced. An EL display includes a flexible board including: a plurality of connection terminals arranged at one side for connection with panel lines formed on a panel board; terminal connection lines for connecting points inside the flexible board with the connection terminals; serial connection lines for connecting between two or more of the connection terminals. On the flexible board: driver output terminals of each of gate driver ICs are connected to terminal connection lines; driver input terminals of the gate driver IC are connected to either terminal connection lines or the serial connection lines; and control terminals for performing logic setting of the gate driver IC are each arranged between connection terminals and driver input terminals to which the serial connection lines are connected.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and method of controlling are provided. A display screen includes gate and source signal lines. A pixel corresponds to each intersection of the gate and source signal lines. Each pixel includes: an EL device including anode and cathode terminals, the cathode terminal being connected to a common reference voltage; a driving transistor to flow a current to the EL device; a first switch transistor provided on a current path through which the current flows from a power line through the driving transistor to the EL device; a second switch transistor to supply, to the driving transistor, an image signal from one source signal line; and a third switch transistor provided between the anode terminal of the EL device and a voltage line. The voltage line is configured to supply a reverse bias voltage for reverse biasing the anode terminal of the EL device.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and method of control are provided. A display screen includes gate signal lines which intersect source signal lines. A pixel provided with an EL device corresponds to each intersection of the gate and source signal lines. A driving transistor is provided for each pixel to supply a current to the EL device. A first switch transistor is provided on a current path through which the current is supplied to the EL device. A gate driver circuit is connected to the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit includes a shift register circuit, and outputs a select or non-select signal for the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit turns the first switch transistor on and off to control a duty ratio of the display screen. The duty ratio is controlled by a start pulse fed to the shift register circuit.

Abstract: A display apparatus includes: display pixels arranged in rows and columns, each display pixel being disposed at the intersection of one of gate signal lines arranged in rows and one of source signal lines arranged in columns; a gate driver IC capable of selecting the gate signal lines based on a designated order; a source driver IC that outputs a voltage signal to the source signal lines; and a TCON. The display pixels each include an organic EL element, a capacitor into which the voltage signal is written, a capacitor capable of receiving an electric charge in the capacitor, and a driving transistor that supplies a driving current corresponding to the magnitude of the electric charge in the capacitor to the organic EL element. The TCON sorts the order of writing to the rows so as to reduce the difference in the voltage signal between successive rows.

Abstract: An EL display apparatus is provided. A display screen includes pixels arranged in a matrix, with each pixel including an EL device and a pixel circuit. A source driver circuit is configured to output an analog video signal to each pixel. A gate driver circuit is on at least one side of the display screen, with the gate driver circuit including first and second gate driver circuits. Each pixel includes a driving transistor, a first switch transistor, and a second switch transistor. A gate terminal of the first switch transistor is connected to a first gate signal line of the first gate driver circuit, and a gate terminal of the second switch transistor is connected to a second gate signal line of the second gate driver circuit. The first and second switch transistors are on/off controlled, independently, by the first and second gate driver circuits.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and method are provided. A display screen includes pixels. A pixel circuit of each of pixel includes, in part: a first switch transistor on a path through which current flows from a power line through a driving transistor to an EL device; a second switch transistor to supply an image signal to the driving transistor; and a third switch transistor for initially resetting the pixel circuit before the second switch transistor supplies the image signal. A gate terminal of the first switch transistor is connected to a first gate driver circuit. Gate terminals of the second and third switch transistors are connected to a second gate driver circuit, which includes a second gate signal line connected to both the gate terminal of the second switch transistor of a Nth row and the gate terminal of the third switch transistor of a (N+1)th row.
