    摘要： A display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing the first substrate. The second substrate includes a first electrode and a second electrode spaced apart from each other. A cholesteric liquid crystal having a pitch shorter than a wavelength of a visible ray and a rotation axis substantially perpendicular to the first and second substrates is disposed between the first and second substrates. The display panel displays a grayscale image in response to an electric field generated between the first and second electrodes. A polymer is added to the cholesteric liquid crystal, and a concentration of the polymer is controlled by exposing the polymer to a light. The concentration of the polymer in an area adjacent to the first substrate may be higher than the concentration of the polymer in an area adjacent to the second substrate.

The first pixel electrode is formed on the first substrate. The second pixel electrode overlaps with at least a part of the pixel electrode with the first insulating layer interposed therebetween. The second pixel electrode has a plurality of elongated openings and applies a voltage to the liquid crystal layer that is different from the voltage the first pixel electrode applies to the liquid crystal layer.

    摘要： A display apparatus includes a display panel, a first polarization part, and a second polarization part. The display panel includes an array substrate, an opposite substrate and an electro-optical material layer disposed between the array substrate and the opposite substrate. The electro-optical material layer reflects first circularly polarized light having a wavelength of a predetermined range and transmits second circularly polarized light having a phase difference with the first circularly polarized light. The first polarization part faces a rear face of the array substrate and converts incident light of the rear face into the first circularly polarized light. The second polarization part faces a front face of the opposite substrate and blocks the first circularly polarized light reflected from the electro-optical material layer and transmits the second circularly polarized light transmitted through the electro-optical material layer.

A pixel including the pixel electrode includes a plurality of domains including a first domain. The domains have average orientations of the liquid crystal molecules different from each other. The pixel electrode has a first opening in the first domain, and the first opening extends substantially parallel to an edge of the pixel electrode.
