摘要:
Controlled release membranes are prepared from polyureaurethane polymer derived from prepolymer units at least 75% of which are oxyethylene-based diols or polyols having essentially all of the hydroxyl groups capped with polyisocyanate are disclosed. The membranes are characterized by their biocompatibility and resistance to nonspecific protein adsorption and are particuarly useful for delivery of proteinaceous materials in drug-delivery systems, i.e., wound dressings. Also disclosed are novel biocompatible, protein-nonadsorptive hydrated polymers and the method of producing the same.

Hydrophilic polyurethane urea foams which are made without toxic, leachable additives are disclosed. High molecular weight, isocyanate-terminated, ethylene oxide-rich prepolymers are used in place of surfactants to make the foams.
摘要:
Modified-polyurethane block copolymers and devices formed therefrom demonstrate excellent biocompatibility and improved physical and mechanical properties. In a preferred embodiment, from about 5 to about 25 percent of urethane hydrogen atoms are replaced with propyl sulfonate and propyl carboxylate groups to provide the modified copolymer.

A water absorbent, relatively dimensionally stable foam is formed from a prepolymer prepared from a polyoxyethylene containing diol, a crosslinking agent and a polyisocyanate. The preferred polyisocyanate is methylene bis(cyclohexyl isocyanate). The foam also demonstrates the ability to hold substantial amounts of water, even under pressure, and can be used in various personal and medical care products such as diapers and surgical sponges.

Packaging materials containing inherently antistatic foams and a method of using the foams are disclosed. The foam used is a polyether polyurethane foam prepared from an isocyanate containing prepolymer which is the reaction product of a oxyethylene containing polyol and a polyisocyanate. The foams show surface resistivity of less than 1.times.10.sup.12 ohms/square and static decay times of about two seconds or less. A preferred foam shows static decay times of 0.1 seconds or less. The packaging includes articles used around static sensitive devices or used to store or transport static sensitive devices.
