    摘要： An inkjet printer for printing on a continuous web of recording media includes a receiver to receive a beam of collimated light transmitted across the surface of a continuous web of recording media supported by a roller. The intensity of the transmitted beam received by the receiver can be used to determine the presence of a defect in the continuous web or in the roller. A controller is configured to reduce the speed of or stop movement of the web through the printer and to retract one or more printheads from a printing location to prevent the defect from damaging the printhead(s).

    摘要： An offset printing apparatus for transferring a phase change ink onto a print medium having a phase change ink component for applying a phase change ink in a phase change ink image; an imaging member for accepting the phase change ink image from the phase change ink component, and transferring the phase change ink image from the imaging member to the print medium, and a transfix pressure member positioned in association with the imaging member, wherein the print medium passes through a nip formed between the imaging member and the transfix pressure member, and wherein the imaging member exerts pressure on the transfix pressure member so as to transfer and fuse the phase change ink image from the imaging member to the print medium, and further wherein the transfix pressure member includes a substrate; an underlayer positioned thereon; an intermediate layer positioned on the underlayer; and an outer layer positioned on the intermediate layer and the outer layer has a modulus of from about 1 to about 50 MPa, a thickness of from about 0.1 to about 2 mm, and wherein the pressure exerted at the nip is from about 750 to about 4,000 psi.

    摘要： A phase change ink image producing machine including (a) a control subsystem for controlling operation of all subsystems and components of the image producing machine; (b) melting apparatus for melting solid phase change ink into melted molten liquid ink; (c) a printhead system located for receiving said melted molten liquid ink, said printhead system being connected to said control subsystem for ejecting droplets of melted molten liquid ink onto an imaging member to form an image and a liquid ink imaging member having a top outer imaging surface for receiving image forming ink droplets from a printhead. The liquid ink imaging member includes (i) a substrate member; (ii) at least one elastomeric layer formed over the substrate member and including the top outer imaging surface; and (iii) a surface texture formed into the top outer imaging surface and comprising asperities spaced apart at most from about one-half to about one pixel spot size for providing contact angle hysteresis to pin image forming ink droplets received thereon, thereby preventing ink droplet drawback, and resulting in quality images.

    摘要： A method and apparatus for preventing ghosting defect, which appears as a lightened ghost image of a previously developed image in a halftone or solid. The defect is due to the different characteristics of the toner that has been reloaded into the recently detoned areas of the donor roll from that toner which has remained on the donor and passed through the reload nip a number of times. A developer unit for developing a latent image recorded on an image receiving member with marking particles, to form a developed image, comprising: means for moving the surface of the image receiving member at a predetermined process speed. A donor member is spaced from the image receiving member and adapted to transport marking particles to a development zone adjacent the image receiving member. A housing is provided defining a chamber storing a supply of developer material comprising toner. The donor member is biased to a first predefined potential. A magnetic brush loads a toner layer onto a region of said donor member; and a charging device charges said toner layer loaded on the region of said donor member to a second predefine potential and wherein said first potential substantially equal said second potential.
