摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for manufacturing polymeric thin-walled tubular members, which are well-suited for use as vascular grafts. The apparatus of the present invention enables extrusion of a tubular member having an extremely thin wall thickness so as to facilitate passage through tortuous vascular passageways. The apparatus achieves uniform wall thickness in a tubular member by establishing and maintaining axial alignment of a ram having a concentrically disposed guide rod therein with a die supported in concentric relation to the guide rod.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a green fluoropolymer tube which has a wall thickness of about 250 microns or less, preferably about 200 microns or less, and more preferably about 125 microns or less. With such thinness, the green tube may be formed into a tube of expanded fluoropolymer having a wall thickness of about 250 microns or less, preferably about 200 μm or less and more preferably about 125 microns or less. Such an expanded fluoropolymer tube is particularly well-suited for use as an endovascular prosthesis, such as a graft, or in a stent-graft, because of its flexibility and strength.

摘要: A device for sealing an opening in a vessel includes an anchor attached to a suture. The anchor is inserted through the opening into the vessel, and the suture pulls the anchor against the vessel wall, forming a seal. A plug is inserted over the suture and is axially compressed toward the anchor, locking the elements in place. The suture is braided or woven outside of the anchor so that it may be stored and handled easily, and is unbraided, unwoven and/or untangled at its distal end inside the anchor, so that individual filaments within the suture may extend laterally within the anchor. The laterally extending filaments subtend a larger footprint within the anchor than a comparable footprint if the suture were to remain braided or tied into a knot within the anchor, which may more effectively distribute the retaining forces within the anchor.

摘要: A blood access for dialysis includes a radially distensible support structure having an open lattice structure defining a support wall having interstitial open areas and defining exterior and luminal wall surfaces; a first porous polymeric portion having a plurality of pores, the first porous polymeric portion being securably disposed over at least a portion of the exterior wall portion of the support structure; a second porous polymeric portion having a plurality of pores, the second porous polymeric portion being securably disposed over at least a portion of the luminal portion of the support structure; and a biodegradable and/or bioabsorbable material disposed within the pores of the first polymeric portion and/or pores of the second polymeric portion.
