摘要: Provided are a method and apparatus for driving a PDP for widening a driving margin and improving contrast. The method for driving a PDP includes a first step of forming wall charges in cells with a set-up discharge using a set-up signal in a first sub-field and erasing the wall charges with a set-down discharge using a first set-down signal to initialize the cells, and a second step of erasing the wall charges with a set-down discharge generated using a second set-down signal different from the first set-down signal in a second sub-field, to initialize the cells. The method and apparatus for driving a PDP uniformly initialize sub-fields to widen the driving margin of PDP and remove a set-up discharge in at least one sub-field to improve the contrast of PDP.

摘要: There is provided a plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof, and more particularly, to a plasma display apparatus which drives an electrodes and a driving method thereof. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including an electrodes; a first voltage supply unit supplying a first voltage to the electrodes at a setup period; and a setup/scan operation unit supplying a ramp-up pulse to the electrodes at the setup period with one voltage source and supplying a second voltage to the electrodes at an address period with the one voltage source. The driving apparatus of a plasma display panel includes a plasma display panel including an electrodes; a first voltage supply unit supplying a first voltage; a first setup supply unit supplying a first ramp-up pulse rising from the first voltage to a first sum voltage corresponding to a sum of the first voltage and the second voltage to the electrodes; and a second setup supply unit supplying a second ramp-up pulse rising to a second sum voltage corresponding to a sum of the first voltage, the second voltage, and the third voltage to the electrodes after the first ramp-up pulse is applied and a second setup supply unit supplying the third voltage to the electrodes when scanning the electrodes. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the production cost by decreasing the number of components and improve a driving efficiency by raising a voltage of a setup waveform at a reset period.

摘要: A plasma display panel that minimizes the power consumption required for driving the PDP is disclosed. A reset pulse of a ramp-down waveform supplied in a reset period goes down to a voltage level higher than a negative scan reference voltage, and is kept for a specified period. Also, a sustain pulse voltage level of a selective erase type sub-field is provided with a voltage level relatively higher than the sustain pulse provided from the selective write type sub-field, or a reset pulse of a ramp-up waveform that goes from a maximum voltage level of the ramp-up waveform down to a ground voltage level or more is supplied to a scan electrode as well as a selective erase scan pulse descends from a predetermined selective erase scan voltage level to the ground level or more. Therefore, the data driving voltage is minimized, and the display state is stabilized.

摘要: A sustain driving apparatus and method for a plasma display panel that is adaptive for reducing power consumption as well as stabilizing a driving waveform. In the apparatus, a voltage source has a half of the voltage required for a sustain driving of the plasma display panel. An energy recovering circuit is connected between the voltage source and the panel. The energy recovering circuit configures an LC resonance circuit by a switching to recover a power of the panel, thereby applying said sustain driving voltage to the panel.

摘要: A plasma display panel drive art capable of restraining a contour noise in a picture displayed on a PDP and reducing a maximum power consumption. The drive art allows one frame to be consisted of a plurality of sub fields each having a different weighting value for brightness so as to display a video signal of gray scale. The plurality of the sub fields are differently arranged along with a distribution of logical values in the video data for one frame, thereby dividing the one frame into a display interval and a non-display interval. Also, the plurality of the sub fields are equal to sub fields without a sub field having a least weighting value for the brightness.
