摘要: A bi-directional optical transceiver includes: an optical fiber for transmitting and receiving first and second optical signals; a transmitter module for generating the first optical signal; a receiver module for detecting the second optical signal; a tap filter for splitting a portion of the first optical signal; a monitor module for monitoring the magnitude of the portion of the first optical signal split by the tap filter; and a wavelength selection filter, which is located between the tap filter and the optical fiber, inputs the first optical signal output from the tap filter into the optical fiber, and inputs the second optical signal output from the optical fiber into an optical detector.

摘要: An optical module having a second connector unit mounted on the bottom of a first connector unit to reduce the size of the radiation member and the optical module. The optical module includes a first connector unit, a radiation member provided on a first side of the first connector unit to support the first connector unit and radiate heat, a second connector provided on the first connector unit to electrically connect the first connector unit to a PCB, and a fastening member provided on surfaces of the first and second connector units, which face each other, to fasten the first and second connectors to each other. The optical module is advantageous reduces the size of the radiation member and renders a more compact optical module.

摘要: A packaging device for alignment between a planar lightguide circuit and an optical-fiber block is disclosed. The device includes a planar lightguide circuit and a single optical-fiber block. The planar lightguide circuit includes an input port of an input waveguide, a plurality of output ports of output waveguides, arranged on the same surface as the input port of the input waveguide, and at least one dummy waveguide arranged abutting the outermost end of the output waveguides. An output port of the dummy waveguide is arranged on the same surface. The single optical-fiber block includes a plurality of ports corresponding to the input/output ports. The input/output ports are coupled in alignment with the input port of the input waveguide and the output ports of the output waveguides. The invention enables making a single processed alignment of the input/output ports of the planar lightguide circuit and the single input/output ports.

Alternatively, a thin film device includes a metal sulfide layer formed on a single crystal silicon substrate by epitaxial growth; and at least two compound thin films with ionic bonding, which are formed on the metal sulfide layer by epitaxial growth. For example, (11 20) surface AlN/MnS/Si (100) thin films formed by successively stacking a MnS layer (about 50 nm thick) and an AlN layer (about 1000 nm thick) on a single crystal Si (100) substrate, are used as a substrate, and a (11 20) surface GaN layer (about 100 nm thick) operating as a light emitting layer is formed on the substrate, thereby fabricating a thin film device.
