摘要： A blade for regulating the amount of a release oil to be supplied is placed so as to abut on a fixing member or on a member for controlling the amount of the release oil to be supplied to the fixing member. The abutting surface of the blade is composed of a silicone rubber layer. Alternatively, the blade includes a plate-shaped elastic body and a silicone rubber layer formed on the tip of the elastic body. A fixing device including the blade and an image-forming apparatus including the fixing device are also disclosed.

摘要： An image formation apparatus is disclosed, capable of forming an image on both surfaces of a recording medium. The image formation apparatus is provided with the latent image forming unit for forming an unfixed image on the photosensitive drum, the transfer drum for transferring the unfixed image onto the recording medium, and an oil application device for applying a release agent onto the fixing roller. The release agent applied upon fixing the first surface is different in quantity from that applied upon fixing the second surface and the releasing agent applied to the fixing rotor during single side fixing is different in quantity than when both surfaces are to be fixed. The releasing agent quantity also differs depending on whether the apparatus is in cassette feed mode or manual feed mode and is not applied when the recording medium is in contact with the fixing roller.

摘要： An image forming apparatus has improved follow-up properties of the fixing rollers between a surface resin layer and an elastic layer beneath it, thereby preventing the generation of a crack and allowing discharge of OHP sheets in a satisfactory manner. A fixing roller and a pressurizing roller are in press contact with each other, and a recording material having an unfixed image is press-conveyed by a pressurizing portion formed by the pair of rollers to effect heat fixing of the image on the recording material. The fixing roller has an elastic layer having a thickness of 1 mm or more and a resin layer having a thickness of 20 &mgr;m to 50 &mgr;m formed on the surface of the elastic layer by firing, and the coefficient of linear expansion of the elastic layer at 150° C. is not larger than 2.7 times the coefficient of linear expansion of the resin layer at 150° C.

摘要： An image forming apparatus, such as a copying machine, has a fixing device for fixing a developer image transferred to a transfer medium, such as paper, with a fixing roller whose surface is coated with a release agent, such as oil, and includes at least one feed passage member for conveying, while contacting, a transfer medium to a transfer region of the apparatus. The feed passage member has a release agent absorbing layer on the surface thereof, and is thus advantageous for preventing release agent from being transferred and adhered to a photo-sensitive drum of the apparatus. The release agent absorbing layer of the feed passage member may contain either porous particles or particles and a binder resin, and be formed on another layer for retaining release agent absorbed by the release agent absorbing layer. The feed passage member preferably constitutes a transfer medium carrying member, which may include a dielectric sheet, for supporting and carrying a transfer medium. The member may alternatively constitute a pick-up roller, a feed guide, and/or a resist roller of the apparatus.

摘要： A transparent film for forming, e.g., a toner image thereon is provided as an optically transparent sheet member having an opaque part. During the image forming, the position and conveyance state of the transparent film are detected optically by utilizing the opaque part. After the image formation, the opaque part is cleared by (i) detaching the opaque part under heating, or (ii) clarifying the opaque part by heating and/or light illumination. Accordingly, the opaque part required for image forming does not adversely affect the final transparent film product, such as an overhead projection film. The clearing of the opaque part may be performed, e.g., along with the fixation of the toner image onto the transparent film.
