摘要: The invention is directed to a process wherein a feedstock or stream comprising steam cracker tar is passed to a vacuum pipestill. A deasphalted cut of tar is obtained as an overhead (or sidestream) and a heavy tar asphaltenic product is obtained as bottoms. In preferred embodiments, at least a portion of the bottoms product is sent to a partial oxidation unit (POX) wherein syn gas may be obtained as a product, and/or at least a portion of the bottoms product is used to produce a light product stream in a coker unit, such as coker naphtha and/or or coker gas oil. In another preferred embodiment at least a portion of the overheads product is added to refinery fuel oil pools and in yet another preferred embodiment at least a portion of the overheads product is mixed with locally combusted materials to lower soot make. Two or more of the aforementioned preferred embodiments may be combined.

摘要: A welding helmet with a sensor-operated light and photochromic visor lens including a welding helmet body configured, sized, and shaped to cover and substantially conform to a welder's forehead. A frustoconical protrusion, integrated into a front side of the welding helmet body, houses a battery-operated LED light bulb. At least one photosensor is disposed proximal the protrusion. Upon the detection of a welding arc by the at least one photosensor, an auto-darkening filtered visor lens darkens and the LED light bulb in activated. A battery compartment, an on-off switch, and a microchip are disposed on a rear side of the welding helmet body. A padded length-adjustable strap is pivotally disposed across the rear side of the welding helmet body.

摘要: A comminuting apparatus has a coaxial throwing wheel and impact rotor, the throwing wheel preferably comprising a plurality of channels for conducting particles from a central axis inlet to a plurality of particle exits to impact the impact rotor. The throwing wheel can be an assembly of wear-resistant inserts forming the channels. Flow channels through the throwing wheel can be configured, such as converging towards the particle exits to minimize energy loss during acceleration of the particles. Further, the comminuting apparatus can include a housing for ready access to the throwing wheel and impact rotor. A two-part housing is reversibly separable for accessing the comminuting chamber, throwing wheel and impact rotor within.

摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for an adaptive machining and weld repair process useful for repairing airfoils, particularly damage to an airfoil leading edge and tip. The process first machines away damaged portions of an airfoil. Filler material is then added to the machined area through a process such as laser welding. At this point, the actual profile of the welded airfoil is measured using a Coordinate Measuring Machine. This data is then used to generate a “deformation” profile, an airfoil profile that approximates the ideal shape of the airfoil. The airfoil is then machined using the date of the deformation profile to produce that shape. The adaptive technology minimizes the amount of stock on material that needs to be removed by hand. The technique thereby significantly reduces costly manual processing.
