The invention also relates to using valves to select a printing ink from a number of available ink chambers.

    摘要: An apparatus for providing power to a gas discharge lamp comprises a storage capacitor and an ignition switch coupled through a primarily parasitic first inductor to a parallel combination of a diode assembly and a second inductor in series with a gas discharge lamp. The second inductor is selected to optimize the energy transfer from the capacitor to the gas discharge lamp. During a first interval determined by the time constant of the series combination of a storage capacitor, a first inductor, and a second inductor, the diode assembly is not conducting and a forward sense current builds in the first and second inductors. During a second interval determined by the interaction of the two parallel circuits driving the gas discharge lamp, during which the diode array is conducting, the smaller reversed sense current flowing in the first inductor and a larger forward sense current flowing in the second inductor add, thereby generating a unipolar, forward sense, single pulse current output for the generation of optical energy by a gas discharge lamp.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image member, for example, an endless web photoconductor, and a transfer member, for example, a transfer drum. The endless web is driven by a frictional engagement with a drive roller. A web drive output roller fixed to and rotatable with the drive roller in turn drives an idler roller which drives a drive belt positioned around the idler roller and a transfer drive member. The transfer drive member is fixed with respect to the transfer drum and rotates the transfer drum. The outside diameter of the transfer drive member is maintained equal to that of the transfer drum despite varying ambient conditions, by employing similar materials, for example, employing a similar thickness of polyurethane as the outside layer of the transfer drive member. Thus, the peripheral speed of the transfer drum stays the same as the image member despite a varying outside diameter of the transfer drum as ambient conditions vary.

    摘要: A multimode scrambling system for video signal transmission systems is described. The system provides for baseband video scrambling controlled by a central originating computer facility. The scrambling of each field of a video changes on a per field basis. The video signal is scrambled in several modes including vertical interval scrambling, alternate line inversion, bogus sync pulse generation, video compression and video offset techniques. A scrambling sequence is sent by a unique algorithm, sent during the vertical interval to each system decoder. The algorithm is reordered for each of a plurality of fields of the video signal and the reordering position is identified by a unique synchronization pulse transmitted during the vertical interval of the video signal. Additional security measures are provided to inhibit a subscriber from avoiding a transmitted disable command, or an attempt to invade the subscriber decoder mechanical packaging security.

    摘要: Subscription apparatus and methods wherein an encoder begins inversion of a video signal during the last horizontal trace line of a randomly selected vertical interval and continues to invert trace lines in the following field of the video signal. The encoder also suppresses the amplitude of randomly selected horizontal blanking pulses only during fields of the video signal while maintaining unaltered the absolute amplitude differential between the horizontal blanking pulses and associated horizontal synchronization pulses. A decoder reinverts trace lines of the field following detection of an inverted last horizontal trace line of a vertical interval. The decoder also selectively rebiases the video signal to restore the horizontal blanking pulses upon detection of a suppressed amplitude during the front porch of a horizontal blanking pulse. Reinversion of the trace lines and rebiasing of the blanking pulses is achieved by selective reference biasing of a video modulator circuit in the decoder.
