摘要: A microbial fuel cell includes a cell housing having first and second chambers. The first chamber is adapted for containing a fluid including a biomass. The second chamber is adapted for containing an oxygenated fluid. A cathode extends into the cell housing second chamber and an anode segment of an electrode assembly extends into the cell housing first chamber. The electrode assembly has multiple, substantially aligned, fibers. The outer surfaces of the fibers of the anode segment are adapted for receiving a biofilm.

摘要: An adjustable two-dimensional lamellar grating system including a lamellar grating and a movable mirror disposed substantially parallel to one another, and an interferometer using the adjustable lamellar grating system. In one example, the lamellar grating includes a dielectric wafer having a dielectric wafer having a plurality of periodically spaced recesses formed therein, wherein the dielectric wafer has higher reflectivity at its surface facing the movable mirror than at a second opposing surface. In one example, the system also includes a mechanism for moving the mirror relative to the dielectric wafer.

摘要: A digital multimedia presentation appliance is provided having a display for displaying at least one digitized image. The digital multimedia presentation appliance further includes a processor configured to communicate and receive commands, including a digital multimedia presentation appliance print job command, from an external processor capable of executing a software application program for displaying a printing utility. The processor executes a program having instructions for processing the print job command and displaying the at least one digitized image by the display of the digital multimedia presentation appliance. The print job command is transmitted after selection of a digital multimedia presentation appliance printing icon corresponding to the digital multimedia presentation appliance following selection of the printing utility to print the at least one digitized image.

摘要: A non-black colored toner DMA sensor arrangement includes a light emitting device for illuminating a toner/surface substrate with light of a wavelength to which colored toners are non-absorbing, and to which the imaging surface is either partially absorbing or transmissive. Light is reflected from the toner predominantly by either scattering or multiple reflections to produce a significant component of diffusely reflected light. A sensor is arranged for detection of the diffusely reflected light, at an angle that does not detect the specularly reflected component of reflected light. An increasing level of diffusely reflected light indicates an increased density of toner coverage per unit area.

摘要: A device for detecting neutrons comprises a layer of conductive polymer sandwiched between electrodes, which may be covered on each face with a neutron transmissive insulating material layer. Conventional electrodes are used for a non-imaging integrating total neutron fluence-measuring embodiment, while wire grids are used in an imaging version of the device. The change in conductivity of the polymer after exposure to a neutron flux is determined in either case to provide the desired data. Alternatively, the exposed conductive polymer layer may be treated with a chemical reagent which selectively binds to the sites altered by neutrons to produce an image of the flux detected.
