摘要: An electrostatic ink jet printing head includes a head block made of insulating material having a first surface and a second surface which are intercrossing substantially at a right angle. A plurality of ink channel grooves are formed on the first surface and the second surface in directions perpendicular to a ridge between the two surfaces. A plurality of recording electrodes are formed on convexities between the ink channel grooves and near ejection points located on the ridge. A cover is attached to the head block for covering the ink channel grooves and exposing the ejection points to the air. Ink is forcibly circulated by a forcible ink circulation means such as a pump. The recording electrodes are formed in the lower reaches of the ink stream compared to the ejection points, and a plurality of electrophoresis electrodes are formed in the ink channel grooves in the upper reaches of the ink stream compared to the ejection points. According to the electrostatic ink jet printing head, excessively higher concentration of the toner particles at the ejection points is prevented and stable ejection of the ink from each ejection point can be executed independently of history of ejection of each recording electrode, and stable ejection of the ink from definite and precise ejection points can be executed, thereby high precision clear printing is realized with a simple structure of the head and at a low cost.

摘要: The electrostatic ink-jet recording head according to the present invention comprises: recording electrodes which eject ink towards the recording paper; an opposing electrode for generating a prescribed electric field between the recording electrodes and the opposing electrode; and ink discharge end sections formed in the vicinity of the recording electrodes. The ink discharge end sections are formed closer to the opposing electrode than the end portions of the recording electrodes. In this case, the equipotential lines in the region of the ink discharge end sections when a recording voltage is applied are virtually perpendicular to the direction in which the ink is discharged. This is because, the recording electrodes are positioned slightly behind the ink discharge end sections in the ink discharge member. In this case, an electrostatic force acts on the toner particles near the ink discharge end sections in the direction of the ink discharge end sections. Therefore, even when a recording voltage is applied, there is a continuous supply of toner particles to the ink discharge end sections. As described above, in the electrostatic ink-jet recording head according to the present embodiment, a convex ink meniscus is formed in front of the recording electrodes. Therefore, toner particles gather at the discharge points, even when a recording voltage is applied, and thus a sufficient quantity of toner particles for forming a desired dot size can be supplied.

摘要: A precision ejection ink-jet printing apparatus to prevent self-ejection. Self-ejection is an ejection of coloring agent particles from an ink-ejection opening without an application of ejection voltage to an ejection electrode. The precision ejection ink-jet printing apparatus includes an ink chamber filled with a pigment type ink, an electrophoretic electrode for causing coloring agent particles in the pigment type ink to concentrate at ink ejection openings, a plurality of ejection electrodes for causing ejection of the coloring agent particles concentrated at the ink ejection openings toward a printing medium, and voltage controller for controlling a voltage to be applied to the electrophoretic electrode. The voltage controller gradually increases the applied voltage up to a predetermined target voltage. The gradual increase in voltage moderates the electrophoretic motion of the coloring agent particles, preventing self-ejection.

摘要: An electrostatic ink-jet printing head in which ink containing charged toner particles in an insulating solvent is supplied from an ink reservoir, an electric field is applied to the ink to generate an electrostatic force, and the electrostatic force causes the toner particles to be ejected from ink ejecting ports. The electrostatic ink-jet printing head comprises a head block including a head block main body which defines an ink chamber and also including a base film which is assembled on the head block main body. The base film has ink ejecting ports and has a plurality of projections extending from one edge of the ejecting port into the ejecting port. The ejecting ports, ejecting electrodes and ejecting projections are collectively formed on a base film by a TAB technique, and by bending the base film at the ejecting ports having projections according to the shape of the head block main body.

摘要: An inkjet recording apparatus includes K ejection electrodes and K gate electrodes corresponding to the K ejection electrodes, respectively, which are located at a distance from the K ejection electrodes. The K gate electrodes are divided into M blocks each having N gate electrodes electrically connected in common. A first voltage pulse is applied to a selected one of N groups each formed by electrically connecting an i.sup.th (1.ltoreq.i.ltoreq.N) ejection electrode for each block to each other and a second voltage pulse is applied to a selected one of the M blocks. A voltage difference is generated between a group and a block which are selected from the N groups and the M blocks depending on an input signal, wherein the voltage difference is equal to or greater than a minimum voltage difference which causes ejection of an ejection electrode.
