Abstract: Methods and compositions for preventing or treating incontinence, overactive bladder, or menstrual cramping in a subject are described. A method can include providing a composition. The composition can include a modification agent. The modification agent can include a strain of Lactobacillus or a ferment or a metabolite thereof. The modification agent can provide neuromodulation activity by up-regulating at least one of maoA enzymes, maoB enzymes, and grin-1 genes. The method can also include administering the composition to the subject to prevent or treat incontinence, overactive bladder, or menstrual cramping. In some aspects, the modification agent can decrease a level of extracellular ATP in a target environment.

The composition includes a carrier and an effective amount of an anti-adherent agent. The anti-adherent agents include botanical agents such Soybean extract, Horse chestnut extract, Gypenoside, Resveratrol, Astragalus extract, Rhubarb rootextract, Allium cepaextract, Cassia seedextract, Ginkgo bilobaextract, and Silymarin, and combinations thereof. The efficacy of the botanical agents is microbe and surface dependent. Various delivery vehicles, including a wipe, may be used to deliver the composition to the surface.

Abstract: Methods of inhibiting microbes from attaching to a surface and anti-adherent compositions are disclosed. One method can include providing an anti-adherent composition that includes an anti-adherent agent configured to inhibit microbes from attaching to the surface. The anti-adherent agent can be: Acrylates Copolymer, Trimethylpentanediol/Adipic Acid/Glycerin crosspolymer, Trimethylpentanediol/Adipic Acid Copolymer, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Acrylates/C12-22 Alkylmethacrylate Copolymer, Octocrylene, Ethylene Oxide/Propylene Oxide Block Copolymer, Polyquaternium-101, or any combinations thereof. The method can include applying the composition to the surface and allowing at least some of the composition to remain on the surface such that the anti-adherent agent inhibits microbes from attaching to the surface. The anti-adherent composition can include a humectant and can be non-antimicrobial.

Abstract: A composition for increasing the adherence of RNA viruses can include a liquid carrier, an adherent agent, and a humectant. The adherent agent can be water soluble or dispersible polyester, Methylcellulose, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, and combinations thereof. The composition can be non-antimicrobial. A method for removing RNA viruses from a surface can include providing a composition for increasing the adherence of RNA viruses, applying the composition to the surface, and removing at least some of the composition from the surface to remove RNA viruses from the surface.

Abstract: A system for removing microorganisms from a surface is described. The system includes a conducting member, a voltage source, and an electrostatic field controller. The conducing member includes a nonwoven material incorporating conductive fibers. The controller is electrically connected to the conducting member and is configured to apply a DC voltage of about 15 volts or less to the conducting member via the voltage source. The surface to be contacted can include any surface present in households, food industry facilities, medical facilities, etc. Such surfaces can include tables, countertops, walls, cabinets, doors, door handles, door knobs, etc. The system can also be used to treat devices used in the aforementioned environments, such as food preparation equipment, medical devices, household appliances, etc. The system can reduce the amount of microorganisms on the surface by at least about 1 log (90%) without the use of chemicals, high voltages, or long exposure times.

The nonwoven substrate can include pores formed between and/or within the fibers and can have a background moisture percentage by weight. The substrate can include a treatment to increase the dielectric constant from the dielectric constant of the substrate without the treatment. The moisture of the article can be configured to exhibit a dielectric constant of at least 50% and up to 600% higher than the dielectric constant of the same article with only background moisture.
