Provided is an authentication system that achieves simple single sign-on used by an MFP. A management application includes a first authentication-request unit that transmits an authentication request to a management server and delivers a token to an execution platform. The other application includes a second authentication-request unit that sends an authentication request together with the token to another server. The application-execution platform includes a token-delivery unit that delivers the token to the other application. The management server includes a first authentication unit that returns a token to the first authentication-request unit, a token-creation unit, and a second authentication unit that performs authentication for an inquiry from the other server that uses a token. The other server includes a third authentication-request unit that transfers an authentication request, and transfers an authentication OK message to the second authentication-request unit.

A program exchange system includes an exchange information managing server and a program exchange server. The exchange information managing server manages exchange information, the exchange information indicating a necessity to exchange at least one of a firmware program and an application program, corresponding to a combination of a version of the firmware program on an image forming apparatus and a version of the application program on the image forming apparatus. The program exchange server exchanges the program on the target image forming apparatus. The program exchange server determines the necessity to exchange the program on the target image forming apparatus based on the combination of the version of the firmware program on the target image forming apparatus and the version of the application program on the target image forming apparatus, and the exchange information managed by the exchange information managing server.

A pull printing system includes a plurality of storage destination devices that store printing data for pull printing, and a printing data transmitter. The printing data transmitter transmits the printing data for the pull printing to at least one of the plurality of storage destination devices. The printing data transmitter selects a storage destination device to which to transmit the printing data from among the plurality of storage destination devices based on specific conditions of each of the plurality of storage destination devices and on specific requirements with respect to the conditions.

The program causes the information processing apparatus to display i) a status of an external apparatus received via the communication unit in a status window of a status monitor displayed on the display unit, ii) a tab indicating a category of the status in a side portion of the status window, iii) a first icon in the tab indicating a change in the status, and iv) a second icon that, when selected, causes the information processing apparatus to switch between displaying a maximum size status window and a minimum size status window. An image forming system includes a client apparatus, a print server, and an image forming apparatus, each of which are coupled via a network to one another. The client apparatus provides a job ID together with an IP address of the client apparatus to the print server, and transmits print job data to the image forming apparatus via the print server. The print server registers the job ID and the IP address in a job address table, receives content of an event transmitted from the image forming apparatus, reads an IP address associated with a job ID included in the content of the event from the job address table when the event is a change in job status, and transmits the content of the event to a client having the read IP address.

Upon startup of an OS, the present invention obtains an entry of a StatusMonitor key from all printer driver setting information subscribed in a registry by means of a subscriber (S0), and if a value thereof is 1, obtains an entry of a key including “Notification”. If a value of an array element 0 indicates activation of notification, the present invention obtains a character string of an array element 1 as an event type, and makes a Subscribe request to an image forming apparatus (S3). The present invention stores a subscription ID being returned, and makes an Unsubscribe request to the image forming apparatus for all subscription IDs thus stored, upon shut-down of the OS.
